i dont think so other people might disagree but i sold my stockers and got ls6 light weight sodium filled's off a 04 z06 and aftermarket lunati beehives works great and opens up a broad range on cam choices plus better flowing and improved cc's

any head will be better ported, but dont think they would be as good as the mighty 243;s. Al;though,,i have seen evidence on here that 241's can be ported to acheive higher numbers than 243's....to a certain lift,,the 243's will come out on top with the higher lifts...so really,,you need to know how much your going to be using...

here is a comparison i found in the Chevy High Perfromance book....i have some threads tucked away too with REAL people on here with the same kind of results,,,,people tend to not want to beleive that 241's can be ported that good....but its all in who is doing the porting i guess.

Yes 853's can be ported to achieve great numbers. Most on this board have "ported stockers"

hmm.. what about the cost of porting? i mean should i just get the prc stg 1 ls6 heads?? they are only 1k and porting the 853's is prolly gna be about 700 - 900.. i dnt mind paying an extra 200 for some really good heads.. but if the cost of porting was alot cheaper then i would stay with the 853's

P&P 243's or 5.3's would be a much better route, and can be had without a huge dent in the budget. Alot of people something like PRC stage 2.5 5.3 heads with great results.

Depends who ports them. I paid 700 to have mine done. Results in sig. Was it worth doing stock heads instead of buying CNC ls6 heads? I think so.

I personally prefer the PRC LS6 heads over porting stock castings, but for lowest money possible porting your stock casting is definately cheapest. We offer the PRC stage 1 porting to stock castings for $600. The PRC LS6 heads sell outright for 1089 though, they move better air & let you sell your stock castings on ebay!!
