383 build questions
i have a 2000 TA with a lid and full exhaust. I have a few questions as i am doing my research. i want to stroke my block to a 383. Is this a smart choice on a 2000 block? also i need advice on a head/cam setup. i have read a lot of information here, and i dont really know if it all applies to a stroker motor. lots of people are running 5.3 heads. will these be plausible for me? and what types of cams should i expect to look at.? Please bear with me for my knowledge is limited. lol Any help is greatly appreciated.

Yes a 383 is a good option for you. You'll need to send the block out and have it preped and buy a rotating assembly and either assemble it yourself or have it done for you.
Heads make the power so keep that in mind. A good set will net you good usable power not just a peak number. AFR 205's or 225 or TFS 215' or 225's would all be in the same price range and be a good choice. You also have the other option for less money of going with a cnc'ed 5.3 or ls6 head. If this is your choice due to budget then I'd go with an LS6 head. You can get a good cnc'ed LS6 head don't get me wrong, but generally an aftermarket head like the AFR or TFS is better. They are more money but they have thicker decks and other construction advantages that an OEM head doesn't. But you go with what you can afford. Then top it off with a FAST92/92 combo and your good to go.
If I can help you with anything let me know.

do yall carry a cost effective rotating assembly? do i have to buy the crank also? My power goal is 450 rwhp with the option of spraying later. Also is a used camshaft acceptable?

Sometimes it's cheaper to just get a shortblock. You then can sell off some stock parts to recoup some money. I went with a stage 2 WRE 383. You should have 99blancoss give some pricing for short assemblies and weigh your options. jmo...
