Default Which heads would you use

I have a LS2 short block and T56 that im going to put in my 70 Chevelle. I'm now trying to decide which heads and intake i should use to get me as close to 500rwhp as possible.

Which ever way i go, the heads will be CNC'd and the intake ported for max performance, but here are my two choices right now.

Which combination would you run???

L92 heads with LS3 intake
or
243 heads with LS6 intake

Thanks, Kyle

The 243 heads will need a fast intake to really show their potential. If you already have the heads I would send them to Advance Inductions (North Carolina) for one of the best 243 cnc programs. I guess you could also send in the the L92 heads, but both combos fully maxed should show about the same power with the L92's requiring less cam timing.

Actually, being that i too am in NC AI is exactly where i was planning on taking the heads to. I know they have a 243 CNC program, not sure about the L92. I'd have to look at their website again or call to confirm they also to the L92's.

As of now, the short block will stay stock, i'm just going to pull it apart and intall new rings and bearings. And cam bearings only if they need it. Other than that, i'll prob get some ARP rod bolts while i'm in there.

But while were on the subject, what is the internal weak link when pushing the 500 hp range. Once before i was told just the rod bolts alone. Does that sound about right?

Thanks,
Kyle

I went with the LPE Ls3 heads with a full port, polish and cnc'd head, it's built for your specs whether you want them milled or not for free and also with a set of Springs of your choice properly intstalled free, delivered for 1600 bucks. That's a damn good deal.

Just my .02

The good thing about the L92 heads is you can me excellent average power with a small call. WCCH is another option for CNC'd L92's. They have a killer program.

Don't go crazy with porting the L76 intake. It works pretty well on the smaller engines as is. Port match it and run.

This is some info I wanted to hear as well..My only issue is buying the L92 heads would be the cost of injectors and a new intake manifold versus sending my 243 heads out...Hmm decisions

The ls3 intake with injectors/fuel rail is on ebay all the time for about $300-350 for everything. Even seen it as cheap as $250 on ebay sometimes.
