Default Heads/Cam CTS-V Runs like crap 1 day after install

So I just had Stage 2 L92 heads and a Pat G cam installed with long tubes a few weeks ago. I was stoked on the #'s it put down (439/375) but the next day it took a dump on me. So i dropped it off to the mech. that did it as a side job. He has had it over 2 weeks and ive gotten impatient on getting it back. Maybe someone can help me point him in the right direction?

It came down w several codes

Map code
bank 1 & 2 running lean
and #7 and #8 misfiring.

What did the car do when it took a "dump"? Do you know what failed or what the issue is?

I wish i knew what the issue was. It happened when i was shifting from 2nd-3rd, i may have also hit the 7k rev limiter. After that it had a dead miss and was barely drivable

Could be anything but it sounds like you bent a valve/valves.

Does your cam pull all the way to 7k rpm? If not, then revving it to 7k isn't going to net you anything. Might have been valve float at that rpm. What kind of valve springs are you running? I may be wrong

OEM pushrod (wong length? and wrong strength) vs a Patriot Extreme spring @ 7,000 rpm?

Yeah, some people are lucky when they over rev but he unfortunetly was not, plus the stock pushrods dont help, Stg 2 heads could have been mill'd plus the size of that cam u better make sure all your ducks are in a row

I was about to ask if you had stock pushrods in it.. I've done the bent pushrod thing before. Stock pushrods cannot handle the additional stress of aftermarket springs. I bent 4 of them at a 15 degree angle during a 7000rpm stint.. Luckily I didn't smack any valves.

OP, if you have not caught on yet, you need hardened pushrods. Don't spin the motor to 7000 as well, almost no reason to spin that high.

If the cam makes power to 7k then why not pull it if that motor can take it? Obviously without hardened pushrods it was a ticking time bomb that went off a day after. What are the cam specs? Stock rockers?

The cam may make power up to 7, but with a stock intake on it, it won't matter anyway, it won't flow that high.

Assuming it was an LS2, since you are using the L92 heads, was the PTV checked after the cam installation? Any valve reliefs cut into the pistons?

That big intake valve can run awfully close with flat tops with some grinds. This, compounded by the wet noodle stock pushrods, can produce a catastrophic combination.
