Finally GM is making a Super Cobra Jet and Challenger Drag Pak contender! To make it correct, it needs to have a ZL1 option (which 1969 COPO 9560 was the ZL-1 and it wasn't a Corvette engine as only 2 had it, where 69 were produced in the Camaro). Although, they mentioned the 2012 COPO having Corvette engines, so I assume they are planning on LS9 and LS7. I wonder if it will have a big block option and be a race-only vehicle like the SCJ and Drag Pak?

EDIT

Just answered my question:

http://www.gmperformanceparts.com/Ex...ro-concept.jsp

2 engine options (in concept), LS7 and a LSX based 5.3 with LS7 heads and a 2.9 Whipple.

Pretty nice video. Any idea what it ran? I've raced there.

Randy Hopkins had the record last year in a stock trim SCJ at 8.47 @ 159 (5.4 with a Whipple), so hopefully the COPO will have the power to compete.

That 327 isn't based off a 5.3 AT ALL. They're making one with an LS9 block and the 2.9 whipple and another with an LSX block and a 4.0 whipple. Both 5.3s are 4.065" bore with 3.150" stroke fully forged (crank/rods/pistons). All 3 will have LS7 heads and the LS7 will use the new Holley intake with 13.5:1 compression and a 233/276 @ .595 cam. Both 5.3s will get 244/255 @ .650 cam.

So these cars won't have VIN numbers? Is that correct?

From the info on the GMPP website that I linked, one engine option will be an LS7 427 with the Holley(proposed) and 13.5:1 compression with a 233/276 . 630 cam, the other engine option will be a 5.3 LSX iron block based (large bore, small stroke, non-production based 5.3) with a 2.9 Whipple supercharger, LS7 heads, and 10.2:1 compression and a 244/255 .650 cam. From what the GMPP website said there are only 2 engine options (although they said "a few engines" in the video, is there an LS9 based 5.3 with a 4.0 that they are not listing?), an N/A 427 and a supercharged 5.3. Also, there will be 2 trans options, powerglide and a 5-speed.

No, they will be off-road use only. They will probably have a part number on the VIN plate just like the Super Cobra Jet Mustang and Drag Pak Challenger.

So GM now has 4.065 bore LS7 heads FS? The only ones I can find are for 4.1" bore
