Injectors for L76 intake

Injectors for L76 intake
Now that I've got my L76 intake kit, it answered some of my questions, but has brought up a couple more. The injector holes/bosses in the intake are definately bigger. So if you used an aftermarket LS1 injector, which is an EV1 type injector, it would require thicker o-rings. Katech actually makes an adatper kit which includes the thicker o-rings, spacers, and longer bolts. The other parts in the kit are needed because the L76 intake kit comes with LS7 injectors, which are an EV6 type injector, and are much shorter than the EV1 injector. So the rails would need to be spaced, hence spacers and longer bolts.
The L76 intake kit comes with LS2 rails. So the mounting tabs don't line up on LS series intakes. I verified this with my FAST 90mm intake. The tabs would definately need to be relocated if you wanted to use LS2 rails on a LS1 series intake.
I still have my stock LS1 injectors, so I just went to see if I transfered the o-ring from the LS7 injector to the stock LS1, if it would fit. It fits, but not as snug as the LS7 injector. So I assume that EV1 type injectors would need an even thicker o-ring because the inside diameter of the LS7 o-ring (or outside diameter of the injector) is actually thicker than the LS1, which makes the o-ring a little wider. I put a micrometer on the injector to see if there was definately a size difference, and there is. The ouside diameter of the LS7 injector where the o-ring goes in place, read .34". The LS1 injector read .30". That makes a difference in fitment.
Anyhow, if I spaced the rails, used longer bolts, and thicker o-rings, would there be any reason why I wouldn't be able to use an aftermarket LS1 (EV1) type injector, particularly the SVO 42s?
Does anyone know what o-rings will make an EV1 injector fit properly in the L76 intake or is it just something that I would have to figure out on my own with a various assortment of o-rings?

Katech or Lingenfelder special o-rings are required for using EV1s on the EV6 speced L76. The LS1 fuel rail "high centers" on the L76 so in order to use it you have to cut out the crossover and replace it with hose (1/2 id). Then you have to bend the mounting tabs a bit to use the EV1s.

I've covered this before and it should be in the sticky up top. It also has been covered numerous times before. Again, the LS1 injector is an EV1 type injector and the LS2/LS7 is an EV6 type injector. The harness plugs are different and they are also different lengths. You will need the adapter harnesses and Katech makes those.

I will be using the injector harnes kit with my L76/L92 setup. They are 39lbs injectors, why not just use the L76 stuff with the harness? The whole intake minus the TB only costs $450. Then all you will need is the harness adapter. I do not remember how much that cost but I know it wasn't that bad. I hope I read your question correctly.

Grrr...buy the complete L76 intake kit from SDPC. It comes with the intake manifold, LS2 fuel rails, LS7 fuel injectors, LS2/LS7 90mm drive-by-wire throttle body, and MAP sensor. Then sell the throttle body to a LS1/LS6 Corvette owner who is wanting to upgrade. You won't have to do anything but bolt the intake assembly to the motor. Lastly, you'll purchase the Katech adapter harnesses which allows you to connect the LS1 (EV1) harnesses to the LS7 (EV6) injectors. Done.
Now if you don't want to use the LS7 injectors which are like 40-42 lb. injectors, then you can buy their spacer kit which has spacers that go between the fuel rail mounts and the mounts on the intake manifold so that it spaces the fuel rails properly for the longer LS1 (EV1) injectors and then also has over-sized o-rings since the intake manifold has bigger bosses (holes) than the LS1/LS6 intake.
Wheww!
