Figured this was a good a place as any to ask this.
OP mentions that L76 truck manifolds will not work with a swap into an F body, but what about the reverse?
I am having a hell of a time sourcing stock exhaust manifolds for my L76 (Silverado Vortec Max) locally, but have come across numerous examples of EM's off an GTO LS2 for dirt cheap.
Main concern is if they'll mate to the stock y-pipe cleanly? Or given all the extra room I have in the bay versus a GTO, it may not.
Worst case yes I can purchase off Rock Auto for about $200 for repros, but would rather pay the $50 for OEM locally if possible.

Looking to do the same...
Greetings,
I am also interested in the LS3 swap, LS3 (376/525) into my '01 F-body. I know I have to use the Lingenfelter computer ($250 at Summit!) to make the 58 reluctor work on my 24 reluctor system...what else would I need.
I am planning to replace the supplied fly-by-wire throttle body with a cable model.
Any help is greatly appreciated...
Thanx in advance!
Opps, I goobered that all up, just read back towards the beginning of this thread and it seems like most of the questions are answered...just need to get started I guess...

Just cam and ported heads. Exhaust and header. I haven't started the engine yet. Just wondering

ok, this thread seems a little dead, but i just installed a cammed LS3 into my '98 WS6, i have the Katech cam sensor extension, has LS1 reluctor wheel on crank and early LS2 cam gear, the car has a long crank time or no start, i release the key and try again and it will fire up pretty quickly and runs great, but is throwing P0343 - cam sensor circuit high and the tach is dead, pcm was Tuned by Frost , the cam sensor is tan colored, now i read on the first page that the Tan sensor MIGHT work, is this confirmed? does the tan sensor work or do i need to get a diff. cam sensor...looking for someone who has done this swap to chime in, prefer not to hear from someone who thinks they know the answer because of what they read

Can anyone confirm or disprove this? Going to be putting an LS3 into my '98, so I need to know if I'll have to swap computers. If so, I'll likely be swapping some or all of the wiring harness(es) to match, which means I'll essentially have a 99-2002 spec setup when I am done (+the LS3). However, I would very much like to avoid this, so if I can stick with the factory PCM, that would be preferable.

Yes, I know the computers are different. My question was, can the 1998 computer drive an LS3? JimMueller actually verified that it would, but warned me that the programming process may be prohibitive. That many shops won't want to tune it (or won't know how).

If you're starting from scratch it might make sense to start off with the 411 model and a matching harness. If you already have the older PCM, search around and collect all the changes and troubles people sometimes have while trying to convert to the newer PCM & harness so you're at least prepared for the challenges. in a 1 word answer, YES your '98 pcm will work for an ls3 swap, i just finished my ls3 swap on my '98 ws6, sent pcm to Tuned by Frost, got the drive by cable throttle body and all sensor extensions and correct tone wheels for LS1 computer and i drove the car yesterday and am still smiling today!

98 pcm sucks for tunability. Do a 99 up 411 PCM conversion take car to a tuner get it dyno tuned and call it a day. You dont have to replace the wiring harness just get diagrams and repin your existing harness it will take a few hours but no real big deal or difficult.
