Sounds like one of their pointless plans. Well lets see no one is buying our cars so why keep selling crate engines that people actually buy. Genius I should now give myself a raise for thinking of the idea.

Not true, it's a typical rumor put forth by those who compete with sales of the GM Performance Parts crate engines.
We are working on more applications for the future.
I might be able to give you a hint if they let me

Thanks for jumping in here Robin.
Yes, folks, I can confirm that this is a rumor.
GM Performance Parts is alive and well, and we're still selling the best GM crate engines and engine components in the industry.
Robin is working with us on quite a few projects that should keep the LS/LSX crowd more than busy in '09.
The one hot product that we are really pushing on is a new, low compression long block based on the LSX block. This will be a great replacement for all of those LS1's out there that have seen a little bit too much boost for a little bit too long.
We also have an entire line of LSX components on the way in '09. Several sets of LSX heads with different applications (including one for you LS1 guys); an entire line of LSX camshafts including grinds specific for forced induction applications; rotating assemblies that we've tested past 1000 horsepower; and intake manifolds to feed it all.
We've also got our engineers busy looking at 2010 Camaro projects that no other company can put out. You all know about the body-in-white program, but we are close to releasing information on rear end options, crate engine packages, as well as bolt-on head/cam combinations that add over 100 horse to the LS3.
I hope you'll take some time and check out www.gmperformanceparts.com - maybe pick up an LS6 upgrade package for your LS1.
Thanks,

P.S. I'll be back in a couple of weeks to show you how to install an LS9 and 6-speed automatic in your Gen IV cars.

The one in my 6100lb truck shifts pretty smooth but, it's only a bit over 600hp at the crank(good estimate). No torque management either. 6L90E though.

Hey folks.
I got a couple of PM's looking for an update on this thread/project.
The LS9 is in the car, and we'll get a video and/or pics out ASAP. The trans has been changed up. It will be a stick in this car.
However, we've got two cars running around the Desert Proving Grounds working on the next generation, 6-speed Supermatic. I'll keep you posted on that one as well.
Feel free to send me a note on any of this.
Thanks,
Jamie
