Default Are ETP LS7 heads similar to the new GM LSX Head

I am building a 468 cu in LSX tall Deck solid roller motor and i want a set of aftermarket heads for it, i will be using a wilson cross plate nitrous system with a carb, GMPP has designed a new LSX head for the public but are not yet availible, and Edelbrock has a LS-R race head designed by Chapman but are not availible for 4 months or more. So my question is are the ETP heads as good or better, do these come machined for 1.550 or larger valvesprings and do they have thicker decks than stock GM heads like L92 or LS7 heads???

Most of the the aftermarket ls heads deck will be bigger then gm l92,ls7 heads-

but i am not not sure on the new gm head-

they are a different head to the etp in rocker areas, intake choices and some other things

i am not sure on how thick the deck is on the new gm race heads but it will be up their from the pics robin put up a couple months back-

I'm waiting for Richard (WCCH) to get done testing the Edelbrock heads as thats what I want to use for my new engine. They are supposed to be capable of 430-440cfm. The GM LS heads are supposed to be around the same.

ETP heads are kickass, but I don't think the ETP LS7 heads flow above 400cfm.

Also, Richard is working on a program for his current All-Pro heads that may get them up around the 420cfm area. That might be good for ya. Thick deack and 6 bolts per if you need that.

im anxious about these new heads as well. im just having trouble beleiving that edelbrock could make a good ls series product. ive just never been impressed with anything theyve produced with the acception of the vicjr.'s and most of there gen1 sb stuff. just my opinion but i think those etp heads will be the money. but hey if you can get any head to flow above 400cfm then thats just plain insane!!

the ETP LS7 head is a real good piece with nice think decks and will hold a 1.625 spring.down side is the exhaust port doesnt flow real nice. For a combo like yours i would consider the ETP C5R heads-they will make some killer power on the spray

the edelbrock LSR head should be a NICE head as long as theres enough material where there is needed. Edelbrock makes alot of badass heads starting with their glidden ford stuff to there 24 degree bbc victors. Hell there Super victor 9.5 sbf manifolds are capable of making 900 plus hp naturally aspirated with extensive porting and no welding..cant say the same for their ls super victor without it being extensively modified..

Heres a sneak peak of their Glidden SC1's for the sbf that we've done

Not sure where you are in limits of building but check out russ arao heads there sick they just bolt on and make rediculous power. a little up there in price but you get what you pay for they flow 405 cfm + there a 4 valve head i know 4 valve its awesome and like i said they just bolt on. supposedly they make 100 or so more ponies over the ls7 head witch is amazing wish i had a set.

i run a 454 lsx crate motor from mast motor sports made 660hp motor 573 rwhp in my 99 t/a tuned by cunningham motorsports in lake elsnore ca. i run a set of untouched ls7 heads and fatory ls7 intake with a 92mm f.a.s.t thorttle body cam specs 242/252 @ 50 duration .626 .626 on a 112lsa 42 lb/hr inj. 11.4.1 comp

Ive looked at a cut apart Edelbrock LS-R and its thin in alot of areas. Edelbrock is supposed to be improving on it though.

I feel the itch to build a boxxed race dedicated forging that accomodates LSX DR, All Pro -2, Edelbrock canted, and Performance Induction canted valve angles. If these manufactuers want to PM me, we'll give them a piece worthy of the cfm.

Every day we're closer to a GM LS Junior Pro Stock class.
