404: how much hp from ls1 heads to l92s.
I have a 404 ls2 with stock ls1 heads and torquer v3 cam. I was wondering how much power and torque would I be picking up switching to some l92 heads. I believe my current compression is 11.5, if thats gonna change.
I want to know compared to l92s, how would other heads compare in the 1000,2000,and 3000$ range.

The l92 heads are far superior to the stock ls1 heads but I coulnd not give you an accurate estimate of the difference. You maybe better off getting some ported l92's for a 404 ci motor those would be killer. Check out the for sale section there are some some ported l92's for sale I think blacksheep has them. I would easily say you would gain 50hp or more from the ported l92's maybe even stock ones.

L92's
Why spend all the cash ?
I put on some ol hand ported 317's with stainless valves on a 402.
It popped 482 RWHP with a 231/237 +2 cam on a 115LSA and the tuner did not know WTF he was doing as he was a stang freak.
I then put it in a SD tune and it's SCARY ! Have not dyno'ed it after.
Bang for the buck ? Well for me the ol 317's shine on a 400 ci engine.
It has the FAST 90/90 on it with 3.42 gears.

Tune for 402
The original tune was done at www.supertuneracing.com in Overland park, KS. (Kansas City) in August 2005.
The Speed Density tune was done by Soundengineer ( Scott Evans, Kansas City but now in the Dallas area ) . I've tweaked the tune since as the AFR was lean in some areas.
The heads were done by,
New Kid Cylinder Heads ( Jim Duncan )
1029 Southeast Claremont Street
Lees Summit, mo 64081-3763

The same engine combo in a 2006 GTO A6 made 534RWHP with a SD tune. The loose converter and et streets on had on the car really throw the dyno numbers off.

I picked up 20+ hp over CNC ported LS6 heads. It would be more if I hadn't run out of fuel at 5800. I would've had more if I would've had another 1000 rpm and only one run maybe 30hp over the patriot heads.
