Default whats this part called..

hey guys need help... my old mechanic lost this part... it's a yellow plastic that goes right behind the timing chain.... been looking everywhere' but no luck.. any imput would be gratefull.....

i would almost call it a timing chain tensioner guide if your refering just to the yellow hard plastic

like he said^^^ a timing guide or tensioner, i don't know if i would have that guy that deep in my engine if he didn't know what that is. chances are he might not know to line up that front cover right and torque the balancer right. that's anther set of problems good luck!

from looking at the pic it looks like a late model gm engine, dealer only part. try gm sdpc one of our sponsers to the right toward the top. they sell gm parts, i have did business with them in the past and it was first class all the way, i work at a gm dealership and they still bet my employee pricing. good luck! gm has alot of stuff on back-order

its actually a a gen IV 5.3 ( ly5) off a NBBS 08 silverado...


found some identical pics.. and its called ( timing chain guide , Timing chain lower tensioner,) but can't find who sells them . . .. are u able to get a part# off the dealership?

get rid of it and get a ls2 TCT.

I don't think the LS2 tensioner has the same bolt pattern, but then I might be wrong.

That's what I've heard too, can anyone confirm this? My block is a LS3 block and it cam with the white/tan chain tensioner. Do I need to use that one or the black one if I am converting it to non-VVT.

I had an LS3 tensioner bolted onto my LS2 block until I read up on some issues with them coming apart. I put the LS2 block style back on so I personally have had an LS3 and an LS2 tensioner mounted to an LS2 block.
