Default What heads/cam/intake for a 402?

Hi I recently purchased a lingenfelter 402 block from a aquantence for a amazing deal. the bearing spun and either needs the stock crank turned .0030 over or a new crank I think i will go with a new crank on it however not sure what turning .0030 will do for integrity in long haul.

I dont even know the compression ratio on the engine I will prob have to call lingenfelter to find out.

My question is this. I had planned to run stage 2.5 LS6 cnc heads, and a torqer v2 cam.

I am not going for super amazing HP but I want a car that can be a good daily driver and lave power down low and up high.

Would I be better off to go with stock L92 heads? since they flow more cfm stock than ported ls6s?

also is the cam a little to modest for a 402 and should I go bigger?

I also plan to put my ls6 intake and fuel rails on it for now with the stock T/B I know this will probably be greatly restricctive but i run a 85MM maf and I dont think I can go any bigger because I run a ls1 computer. I prefer to stay away from a SD tune. just wondering what all my options are .

I do plan to move up to a 102 intake and a t/b if they make them that big with drive my cable because I dont think I can do DBW on a ls1 computer just lookign for optinions and options.

I think the l92 heads would offer better torque and it would be easier to run a big cam. I do think that cam is to small for a 402 and it def wont work with l92 heads i would have one custom made just tell them exactly what you want from your combo. Your ls6 intake would be fine if you keep your heads defintly leave some power on the table but you can alwasy up grade later.

no. You need a L76/LS3 intake Ebay always has them. $299.00-$350.00 with injectors and rail.

If you need to stay with an LS6 intake your best bet on heads is either a ported 243 casting or an aftermarket casting head like a PRC, AFR or TFS. The aftermarket casting heads will provide you with the best power all around, but they will be more expensive then something like a ported 243 casting.

For cam I would recommend looking into something a little larger than the torquer v.2. That cam will be a little bit of an undercam for that size motor. I think something in the early 240's duration will leave you with a very driveable motor but still making some nice power. You can get away with larger cams in the stroker motors because they make a lot more power down low compared to your stock stroke motor.

There is no real reason for me to stick with the LS6 intake. as long as they make drive my cable T/Bs for ls2 and ls3 engine intake sizes. If not then I may have to stick with it for now until I get a fast.

What is the largest Maf you can run on a ls1 computer and harness? also is it possible to run DRIVE BY WIRE on a ls1 computer and harness?

PTM and Nick William's 90/92mm tb's will mate up to the LS2/LS3 intakes, you just have to buy a throttle cable bracket to go on the intake. We have run a 100mm MAF with the LS1 computer, but it requires a good tune for it to operate correctly.

The nice thing about the L92/LS3 top end is they flow so well you can make excellent average power with a small cam. Big heads/small cam makes for a great DD.

Just my $.02
