Default Decision between cubes

I have reached a tough choice between a few different engine combos. The build will be going in stock weight 02 Ws6, wanting to stay NA for now, mainly a street only car, and I am looking for more power under the curve rather than peak numbers. Budget is pretty workable but I would like to keep a little $$$ for a 12bolt or 9". I would prefer forged internals. If I hit 470RWTQ I would be happy.

1st option- H/C/I a stock cubed LS3 with some higher end heads, and a cam tailored to heads.

2nd option- Lq4/9 402/408 would have to spend alot more in changing the supporting mods I already have.

3rd - 427 would require some time to get everything together for reasonable prices

Supercharge or Turbo what you have. Cost will be comparable and then once your tired of your car you can take your form of FI with you way easier than trying to return a heads n cam engine to stock. I'm sure this wont be your last ls based car.

While most expensive I vote for #3. If you have time for the car to be down, you can have your existing block sleeved and move on from there. For NA, you can go to a larger bore and get 44x cubes with a 4 inch stroke. Add a set of nicely ported LS7 style heads, custom cam and you can probably get around 600 rwhp that you can drive all the time.

More money than build #2 but larger bore allows better head selection.

Yeah there's a dry sleeved 4.125" bore block locally I would like to pick up, since my stock block is on the way out. There is also a good deal on a bare LS3 block on the web, and iron 408s are everywhere. 427 needs about 60# injectors right? My only thing is a good set of worked LS7 type heads run about as much as the block and more in some cases, but they do pay for themselves in performance.

You don't boost a stock shortblock. That's asking for trouble. If you kept the boost reasonable, what's the point?

Look around the sale thread you would be suprised what you find thats affordable.

I got a fully forged 418 ls3 COMPLETE motor for 6k, figure in selling the stock ls1 and its a WHOLE LOTTA engine for not alot of money and the motor dosnt have budget parts in it either, its a full callies rotating assembly, morel link bar shifters, kaytech timing chain, lg motorsports g6x3 cam, ported ls3 intake. it made 505 hp/501trq in a AUTO GTO with stock size maf and air intake setup.

If you are a NA guy then you will only be happy with the most cubes that you can build. Big cubes means you can run a milder cam and still make power without having to run a high maintenance top end.
