What setup to make 430hp cts v content
Hey guys, I'm getting ready for a setup in the v. It's an 06 ls2 v and currently my tuner is setting me up with a cam 228/231 114lsa. Said its a great cam but I'm not sure if its gonna break my goal in hp. It's gonna be getting long tubes, stock milled heads, port and polish on the heads, intake and full exhaust without cats. I've been thinking a lot about spraying the car and pretty site I will but I'd like to make over 430-450hp and then spray 150 and get close to 600.
My question is will this setup break that or do I need something else. I got about 2000 to spend. Already have intake and exhaust so I have 2000 for pacesetter long tubes head job and cam setup.. Also I don't want the car to be super sluggish down low for dd

If you ard doing the work, it MIGHT be enough. AI & TEA both have good LS2(243) CNC programs.

It's going to be real hard to do with $2000 once you add head bolts, head gaskets, port and polish heads, lifters, trunion upgrade, cam, springs, pushrods, gaskets and seals, tune, headers, fluids, possibly oil pump and timing chain, etc. It adds up real fast.

It is gonna be REALLY hard to do with 2000.00, and be reliable. IRS sucks up some power on the Dyno also. Are you going for a specific track time, or 450rwhp bc it sounds nice?
As someone else mentioned, supporting mods. Clutch assembly, any issues with the rear? I hope you know that's a known weak point with these cars. You're going for 450 rwhp with a 150 shot on top of it? Hope you're friends with a tow truck driver, bc the rear probably isn't going to like that.

The 06-07 had the upgraded rear ends so that might not be as much of as a problem as some here would lead you to believe. The $2000 isn't going to buy the parts you need to do the heads and cam though. You may want to go with headers and a tune and if there is enough left over a basic N2O kit. Do the heads and cam later when you have more cash

Ya I can get it done for 2000. Has upgraded ls7 clutch setup. Rear end will be fine guys. It's really not that expensive if you know what to get and were to get it from. Some people spend to much money for parts that aren't suppose to be that expensive. So everyone, the cam, springs, lifters, push rods, ect is about 810$. Then long tubes will be 243$. And then tune about 400$. Roughly 1600-1700 for everything. That gives me some money for port and mill. 100 bucks for port and 100$ for mill. DONE!!! That's 2000$. But I'm gonna wait on the port and mill cause I'm already at 11.1 on tis motor and I'm gonna wait and enjoy the cam for a bit then when I'm ready for nitrous ill do fast and port as head work stuff. I should still make like 420hp. Cms knows there stuff here in SoCal. They don't mess around. Anyone get tuned by them? What's your feedback?

I know, right. Headers for 243.00?! 100.00 Headporting?! I've been building my car wrong this entire time!!
Oh and BTW on that LS7 clutch setup, it works great for bolt-on cars. You have to remember the substantial weight difference between a Z06 and a CTS-V. If you ever plan on launching the car to get a decent 60', then that LS7 clutch won't live, and more than likely, the rear won't either. I'm well aware that the 06-07 have an upgraded rear but it only holds up marginaly better than the 04-05 rear on hard launches IMO. Cammed or otherwise, I'd go with something a little more stout, probably a Diamond Stage 2 at least, not a huge price diff, just saying. For the rear, you might be fine as long as you don't launch it. Otherwise, it maybe a ticking time bomb.

I guess you have been going the wrong route. Do a search for pacesetter headers. I had seen pacesetter king tubes in amazon for 321 but a guy in here got them for 243 and I've done my research. The pacesetters for perfect are no different then kooks. And yes 100 for mill and 100 for port. It's really not that hard to do your research before just buying the most expensive items. I don't plan on launching the car very often as if I do I launch it hard. But let's stay on topic about the cam setup and maybe others having cms work done. They freaking rock!!!

Anyway on the cam, what's the lift on the intake and exhaust side?

Obviously you didn't see the sarcasm in my statement. I know about pacesetter long tubes. Just to let you know the paint doesn't last long. Milling for 100 is reasonable, but 100 for porting won't get you much in my honest opinion. As far as launching the car, take it from those that have broken stock rears, it doesn't hold up very long.

this will be a lesson learned. you get what you pay for my friend. $100 port job? make sure to post the before and after pics please. As for comparing pacesetter LT's to Kooks?? comon man. Not to mention the used part prices of your Cam, Lifters, push rods, springs, gaskets, seals... Heck even USED it'll be more than that. Why would you try a budget build like this unless you're doing all the labor yourself and are super impatient?

No offense, but imo he is using the wrong lobe on the exhaust. Intake lobe should be more aggressive than the exhaust lobe not the other way around. I'm also not basing the exhaust being more aggressive than the intake by valve lift. Reason I asked what the lift was so I could confirm that lobe was what I thought it was and it is seeing as it's .617" lift.
It will work, I just would do it the other way around.
