Default LSX vs. LS3/L92 boost capacity

So just how much boost can an LS3 or L92 handle? 2 turbos making 10 psi, with a goal of 750 rwhp; is that do-able?

Or overkill with an LSX and related upgraded internals?

Yes. But if you run pump and meth? Tread lightly....

On race gas? Its just coming alive. The tune is key

The 6.2 aluminum motors can handle 850! It's all in your tune and internals. What will you be doing with 850hp? Racing in the 1/4, 1/2 or mile(s)?

We had a 5th gen that made 713whp with twin turbos and meth on a stock longblock. The motor broke, and we thought it was from too much boost/meth, but it turned out to be something else completely unrelated. I'd say 750whp shouldn't be a problem, just get the tune right before you start beating on it.

An LSX block would be nice but for your goals I think the LS3/L92 block will suffice. As previously stated, the tune is key and I would also run meth

It will be professionally tuned... my plan is street, a little 1/4 mile stuff, and a little autocross. The compression ratio and boos level should not be too high for just 750 or so...

I personally dont trust aluminum blocks for boost, but theres alot of guys out there pushing them to the limits without breaking! Internals, parts, fuel, and tune are all big factors for whether the block will hold lots of boost. If you dont plan on pushing too much boost I would say a LS3 will meet your needs. You can even add meth for safer timing which will allow more boost while keeping the engine at cooler temperatures. Now, if you ever wanna go bigger in the future and do alot of drag racing/street racing with high amounts of PSI a LSX block will always be there for you. You can do a standard deck LSX or a 427 LSX, depends on your goals. These LSX blocks can handle alot of boost and power if tuned and built right with the right internal and external components.
