Default Today's "Help me choose a cam" thread (LS2)

I've got a bone stock LS2/T56 dropout that came from a 2006 GTO (71K miles). I'll be putting it into an E36 BMW that weighs about 3100lbs.

If I'm going to do a cam, I might as well do it while its on the engine stand and make my life easier. It will have long tube headers and a free flowing intake. I don't mind changing the valve springs but I do not want to toy with the possibility of piston to valve clearance issues.

My goals are simple; I want to have the SOUND that one would expect from a healthy V8 (ie, lopy idle) and I want it to be streetable. It's not a daily driver but it will be a 100% street toy for the time being. Eventually, I might consider porting the heads, changing the intake, etc. which will help the cam reach its full potential.

KISS. Cam and valve springs are the only mods I want to make at this time. Seems that the TSP 228R is popular but I've also read several "I wish I'd gone bigger" stories.

Thinking about the TSP Torquer 2. Not sure about which lobe separation to choose. Not interested in a custom grind.

TIA.

Ask 100 different people, get 100 different answers.

IMO, best bet is to go right to the source, get in contact with a Pat G., Martin @ Tick, Texas Speed, Futral etc.. and discuss options as opposed to theory and opinions from those of whom mostly have zero idea wtf they're talking about.

From the description you have given, you could just write down every cam that has 228* and larger and just put them all on a dart board, close your eyes and throw the dart.

I emailed Martin and that's what he suggests (SNS Torquemax Stage 2).

Thanks for the help.
