If you're talking about an engine dyno competition or something along those lines that would be neat and I would be down for that.

While I understand what 'hawg is saying, I think it would be entertaining to see who could spec the 'winning' cam given a level playing field.

Give each contestant the specs of the host engine and see which cam makes best average hp/tq, best peak, best whatever...

Also, it would be interesting just to see the differences in each contestant's specs / approach considering they would be given the identical criteria to start with.

Not sure what it proves...just would be interesting.

Better, more difficult test would be a same car, same day drag strip comparo...

But the major problem is that engine combos that are just based on peak numbers do not correlate to fast street or track cars.
I'm not talking about "Engine Masters" . . .

I'm talking about "real world numbers", where the cam designer has no control over the components used in the engine.

The only "mechanical information" they would have is Static Compression, Bore & Stroke, Head Type & Specs, Octane Rating, and Valve Sizes.

Then, they would each design a cam to optimize all of the different motors in each of their different configurations.

"Peak" numbers for HP or Torque would be indicated, BUT completely disregarded in the Final Standings.

The complete Dyno Sheet would be displayed, along with the ACTUAL cam specs ( each cam would be Cam-Doctored" ), which would also be displayed.

Remember, I'm talking about the "Custom Cam Designers" on Internet Forums, not "mass-production" manufacturers.

There would be "nowhere to run & nowhere to hide" in that competition format and it would "separate the men from the boys" among cam designers !

This would be pretty cool. More than likely will never happen, but I'd love to see the results.

I just no engines (and all my engine combo's are on file also in my HEAD) Bryan @LME said that 4 ME TO REACH 700fwhp with my 408 I NEEDED A CAM WITH A MIN.OF 255 dur.@.050. So I called Martin(MARS)@ TICK and he made me a custom solid roller of 257 dur.@.050 and still run A/C. think about it this way I now want a 479 lsx
***NASCAR ENGINE****
This is what I wanted all along 850hp N/A .So if you know like I know.... go look for articles on a engine with 850 hp now what I found was MY BUDDY @ HKE YOU-TUBE 468 tall dk. 850hp .270 dur . cam so i no 4 a FACT that I WILL NEED A CAM with more dur.@.050 because of crank size. 4.250 vs 4.375. I think i would be able 2 get close 2 875 -900hp if i were 2 port my TFS LS3 HEADS. but we could just REV it 2 7300-7400 rpm to get the same 875-900.
Common $ense.
I have a combo for every auto-maker even GTR -10... or how about GEN3 HEMI WITH A 4.185 BORE AND 4.250 stroke or / low deck Dodge hemi with custom intake..........etc........ or even a stroker 5.7 Toyota that could rev to 9000rpm EASY AND STILL RUN PUMP GAS(got part numbers & contact #) .I JUST DESIGN AND I kNOw EVERYBODY, I WILL FIND WHO EVER I NEED TO COMPLETE MY ENGINE FILE SYSTEM. LOOK UP ROCKO PARKER HEAD OF GM CYLINDER HEADS .... I WANTED THE PORT # for ROUGH PORT CT HEAD. It may have took me 3hrs but I got the port #
