Default elgin cams vs the rest

I'm currently in the market for a custom grind cam. I'm leaning towards going with Elgins cams, but haven't found anything here about past experiences with him or anything of the sort. That said, how do his custom grind cams stack against the rest? Any other suggestions and why I shouldn't go with Elgin?

Hmmmm, I know Elgin has been into flat tappet camshafts. I did not know that they are into LSX hydraulic roller camshafts.

Look guys, I would easily consider myself a newb in the ls world, and I wouldn't be wasting my time asking a question I knew the answer to.

If the search is not turning anything up, there is a good chance that not a lot of them are in use in the LSX platform. The guy may be very good, but finding results may be difficult. Maybe ask Elgin cams for a list of customers you can talk to.

I just got off the phone with Elgins cams, and they do specialize in hydraulic roller cams. I appreciate theunsarcastic reply SScamaro99. I will soon provide numbers so we can see how well Elgins cam stacks up to the rest.

The cam is only as good or bad as the guy that designs it.

I used to run a LG cam and it was amazing. For V2 of my engine I went with Martin @ Tick Performance for a custom grind. We shall see how that 1 goes, I hope to have it to the tuner in a week or so.

Some of my circle track customers are brand loyal...whether it's Ultradyne, Lunati, Comp, or even Iskenderian. Then there's the cheap *** **** who can't afford racing in the first place and those are the guys I put Elgin cams in for. These are GEN I flat tappet solid type cams and I can tell you this much....they run well, make decent power, and don't have lobes goin' flat during break in.

I believe you are referring to Elgin Industries Camshafts? I think there is also another cam company called Elgin Camshafts in CA. He is more of a custom cam grinder with a pretty good history. Elgin Industries offers Hyd Cams for SBC/BBC Etc...more so using EPC style grinds. Im not sure if there is any relation between the two company’s though..?

I was unaware that there was two Elgins, but yes, the one I speak of is based in California, and he specializes in custom grinds whether its a flat tappet cam or a hydraulic roller. After speaking to them and reading Elgins paper over his cam theory I believe he has earned my trust and am going to give it a shot.

Lol, I highly doubt you and I are speaking of the same Elgin......I'm definitely no cheap *** trying to cut corners who can't afford racing.
