Want aggressive lopy cam for T.E.A stage 2 setup.
I have an 06 GTO and I want something that is super aggressive and mean sounding. Something that just makes you want to drool just listening to it lope. I will give up a bit of drivability if need be for this. Of coarse I want it all: ultra aggressive sounding, drivability, mid rpm power, and big peak numbers. But my priority is making a statement just starting the car.
For exhaust /i just bought new long tube headers(1-3/4" primaries) without cats and I already have a corsa cat-back system. (I don't mind popcorn).
I am sure some of the lope is in the tune and how low you set the idle along with other sorcery.
I am interested to hear what people recommend. I was thinking of a custom grind but a proven true cam has its advantages also.
I watched a video from Tick Performance and the Polluter cam sounded pretty good. There is so many so called custom cam companies out there I just want to make a good decision on this.
HEAD STUFF
For the price vs performance I think I have finally decided on having a set of 243's done up. I am not 100% decided on who but I like what I see and hear about TEA. I have also been talking to Phil at A.I. and I have emailed Ed Curtis also, I have purchased multiple custom grinds from Ed for my Mustang setups.
The price and the advertised flow numbers from TEA have me really leaning towards their direction at the moment but I really haven't heard much about their cams.
I have sent emails to multiple places about heads and cams and still waiting to hear back from a few of them.
I have my tax money back and the ok from my wife so I am ready to spend some money. But I am trying not to rush this and make too quick of a decision on my setup.

Send the heads to Ed and get a Hellion or a StreetSweeper camshaft from him. They both are insane.
I have TEA heads and an EPS 234/242. It lopes like a son of a bitch. EPS grinds cams on Cam Motion cores which are more expensive than Comp or Lunati - but are built on billet cores and are worth the extra cash. Ed can do that as well with his cams. Also, Kip from Cam Motion has some big crazy cams with their lobes, so that would work too.

I like how that sounds. I personally want something even more aggressive sounding but that does sound mean.
Here is that polluter cam from tick.

I could lower my idle down more. But it drives better with the idle at 950.
Polluter v2 is 17.5 degrees of overlap. My cam is 16. They are pretty close. Sounds like that Vette has cutouts and is running open headers. My car with open headers was louder and more insane. Not that the Kooks are all that quiet.

I have the Hellion Cam Jake is talking about. It will do well with a good set of heads. This is through cat . You can imagine what it will sound like with ORY...

Hellion cam(244/248) with Catted ARH and Borla Cat back - YouTube
I do like how that sounds also and without cats that would be even better.

I sent a set of 243 cores to tea yesterday for them to do a stage 2. After a couple of emails back and forth with ed I sent payment and within hours I had a cam card. I put this in his hands. .631 .621 111* 236 242. Very simular to his street sweeper specs.
How much would I look to gain from changing stock intake and tb? Hmm. Still don't want to spend that kind of money on an intake.

What gear are you running? If I were you I'd be prepared to do all the supporting modsintake,TB,1&7/8 headers, poss gears, custom tune,ect..) to go with the aggressive cam your looking into so you don't turn your GTO into a mean sounding turtle that wont get out of it's on way. And if you're not going into the bottom end I'd run a cam that makes peak @64-6600rpms to save the motor. Before I changed out my stock gears(maybe 3.08 or 3.23's) I was shifting out of 2nd gear @7300 & 83mph.. It sucked.. No power down low. I really had to make the motor scream to really enjoy the power. 80mph was 1750rpms and it was lugging a lil and i needed to downshift just to pass someone. I put the 4.10 gear and it gave me my bottom end power back and let me cruise @80mph near 2150rpms which allows me to actually enjoy cruise control again and pass someone without hitting 4th or 5th gear to do it. All I'm saying is be prepared to spend some $$$$ when you do the big cam or be prepared for a few disappointments. Oh yea, traffic is a blast too. So glad I put this badass spec 3 clutch in thats very stiff and has my left leg looking like Arnold Swartzenegger's. I should of gone with the Centerforce Stage3 like I ran in my truck with my 383 stroker in it. Soft pedal with great holding power. Oh well, next time...
