LY6 wear parts
New to the forum.
Just purchased a LY6 that came in a 2008 Express Van with 177,000 miles, that I plan on swapping into my 85 S-10 Blazer. Before I do the swap, what are the common wear parts that I should check before stuffing it in. Would rather check everything now then find out after we have it installed.

Thanks for the reply Brandon. Found the rocker kits. Is this the Summit kit you are talking about:

I thought that the LY6 didn't have Displacement on Demand, am I wrong?

Thanks Jimmy!
So other than rebuilding the rockers, I should should be good? No seals that are prone to leaking, water pumps, timing chains, oil pumps? Just want to knock out any known issues before I stuff it in the truck.

Since I have to pull the pan to tap the oil drain-back for the future turbo, oil pump should be easy. Thanks.
BTW, Nice ride! You are only an hour up I-85 from me (Duncan, SC) and looks like you are doing a similar build as I am. Got a build thread?

No build thread at the moment just acquiring parts, motor will not be put in car till next spring 2016, just slowly working on it. Thanks for the comments and it looks like your are very close, have to meet up some time.

I would replace the rear cover and main seals, as well as a new oil pan gasket. The rear main seals are prone to leaking after time, but while the motor is out, it only makes sense to reseal the bottom end with fresh stuff.
Aside from that, at a minimum, I would replace the oil pump, timing chain, and valve springs.

Planning on doing a cam swap, so the springs will be replaced to match and get a new timing chain while I am at it. As far as keeping the VVT, still on the fence about that one.
Rear main seal, cover gasket and oil pan gasket makes sense. Thanks for the tip.

I will most likely do the VVT delete. Going to set up everything NA test it in the truck before I start plumbing for the turbo. Was thinking about trying the VVT, but if I am swapping cams, might as well just do the delete while I am at it.
Ok, you talked me out of it... I blame you!
