LS2 NO oil Pressure?!!?!!!?!!
Just got back my freshly rebuilt Ls2, ALL new bearing, block was honed and cleaned ect. Long story short we got the Ls2 in my Fbody, and the first crank it made 60psi of oil pressure cold start. Drove the car for one day and once normal temp was reached it went down to 40psi cruising (which is normal to me). Day two cranked the car, cold start pressure wasnt as strong but above 40psi, i just figured maybe because it was warm that day. I was headed to the muffler shop and the oil pressure GRADUALLY started to dip till the gauge read zero. I immediately cut the car off. Popped the valve cover off and its not oiling up top what so ever, lifter are DRY. Took off the oil filter and turned the motor over and NO oil came out. (new oil pickup tube Oring, new mellings pump,) WHAT COULD THE PROBLEM BE??? I just wanna be able to DD my car and drag a ford here and there.

Test....
Take the gas pump fuse off so it won't start take oil filter off and crank the motor see if you get oil pumping out from filter location likely you will, install a new filter of different brand.

I used a K&N filter , cut it open and it looked fine. The oil is full and when I turned the motor over just yesterday NOTHING came out???? Only the oil that was sitting in the filter itself came out and that's it. I'm really wonder what could cause for me to have oil pressure one day and for it to decrease the next after after a fresh build??? I dont get it and never experienced something like this.

We used a new Oring, come to find out the red one was the one we were supposed to use, but STILL we turned it over after only putting the front cover back on and no oil filter. Turned it over and NO oil came out after seconds of holding it. So we put the filter on and turned it over again and the oil gauge only flinched while turning it over for 10sec straight but remained on 0psiand never built up any kind of pressure. Checked the plug by the oil pump and it was in also. And we poured oil in the pump before we put it on and turned the gears and oil shot out. So I'm sure the pump is fine. Its a brand new Mellings pump. So I'm guessing I need to check the oil by pass valve on the back of the block? The machine shop installed a ls1oil by pass valve on the back of the block but it wont hurt to check it after my options are dwindling down now.

Will pump as it turns but pressure will read after it starts, still wonder if you removed the oil filter and crank the motor to see if it pumps oil straight out the filter area.

Ok will I will check that plug next, and last night it didn't spill out the filter area while turning it over, and no oil reached the lifters while the was valve cover was off. So I should try to start it to see will the gauge read?

When the oil filter is removed if you crank the motor it should gush oil out immediately true the filter threaded stud which is like hollow pipe with threads outside for the filter, no need to start it until you know there's oil lubricating that poppy.
