Default New GM 6.2L Aluminium?

I see GM has announced a new 6.2L 378ci engine for the Escalade etc. I assume it is a LS but is it aluminium?

Aluminum 4.065" bore block, forged crank, good new LS7-ish ports on heads (not CNC'd), 2.165" intake valves, 1.59" exhaust valves. Throw in a 4.00" crank, and presto, 416 cubes. Take care.

Any more details on the LS7-ish ports? IE: Is it basically an LS7 head, but set up for smaller valves? Does it work with the LS7 intake manifold (more square intake port, vs. LS1/2/6 cathedral style)?

Like a LS7 in shape, but different location and smaller. Don't think the intake will fit. Has computer adjustable cam timing and cylinder on demand for fuel mpg. They will have a iron version also eventually. Uses the new 58X crank wheel.

Cool, thanks. Is the Escalade motor the same as the LS3 that's supposed to be in upcoming vettes? Or is it called a LQ-something?

Anyone know what it'll take to fit the block into existing platforms, like say a C5 with ETP heads? I can't wait until someone figures out how to make a piggyback computer to run the variable timing and DOD!

Cant wait untill someone gets their hands on the DOD blocks to tear everything down to see what we can use.

Block can be used in a non-DOD/DOD application from what I'm told.

This block could be used with LS7 heads then, right? You need 4.060 to use the LS7?

LS2 blocks will not work?

Here are the details and photos of the L92... my only question is, when could I actually have one in my hands!

The main things everyone needs to know about the L92 engine...
6.2L
Aluminum block and heads
LS7 design heads with the offset rockers
Variable Valve Timing
Forged stock crank

L92 combustion chamber
http://gm.wieck.com/forms/gm/previewpage?026549 valves

LS7 combustion chamber

L92 Intake ports

LS7 Intake ports

LS7 Exhaust ports

Exactly, they do look to be unported LS7 heads..............

A picture of the intakes or heads side by side would be nice for port comparison.

I'm hearing sometime in January these blocks, heads and whole crate motors will be available. My fingers are crossed.

maybe so... but the 6.2 heads appear to have their intake bolt holes milled in different (lower) locations.

I keep telling myself to hold out on the ls2402. There are brighter things over the horizon. It's just so hard when you see your friends dropping on 402 and 408's. Be patient, I keep saying.

This looks like a really nice set up. 6.2 block, Callies 4" crank (with the ls1 wheel), rods/pistons, LS7 heads and intake, big cam, 416cid....550rwhp+
