AFR 225 vs. Ported L92s
#5
455 in^3 can use the extra air flow of the ported L92's.... 455 and L92's....depending on who ported them and what they flow of course....not that it's everything, but it's is something.

The L92 heads flow sick numbers from what i see. I am sure they could be touched up (not ported) by some places. Different intake (maybe ported l76?) or the new weiland coming in march and it could be nasty.

Depends on your budget and how much youn want to spend to get every little once of power out of it. By design the AFR's are better. The AFR's can be touched up as well but the design of it has vleocity in mind not just raw flow numbers.
For a 455 you want the best flowing head you can find I would think. Depends on your budget. The ALL PRO LSW head and the ET canted are the kings of the hill from what I've seen so far on big bores. PRC is of course/usual a great flowing head at a super savings cost. Dont imagne you can go wrong with that head either.

Ported l92s flow about 350cfm corrrect? so if you have the cubes theres no question. afrs might have more optimum air velocity etc...but they are more expensive...

why you don't try the trick flow 235cc LS1 heads a compromise between veloctiy and flow with the fast 90/90 intake. i prefer LS7 heads over L92 for a 455ci motor.
there is a dyno thread in the dyno section about a 454ci LSX motor with Trick Flow 235cc heads and a medium cam for a 454ci. it put around 583 rwhp and 551 rwtq.

I would run the l92 since you already have them....you can get another intake once they start to come out...if you were going to run f.i. then the l76 works great....

coming to understand it all now-when i look at buying heads for any needs-wether n/a or fi-i look @air-speed-flow numbers in my eyes is how people sell heads-
if the budget wont go far the l92 is a very good platform-more then enough in my eye's

Not trying to hi-jack the thread but which of these heads do you guys think would make the best torque from 3500-5500. I know a lot of guys just want to use whatever makes max HP even if its at 7500 but for a street engine I don't know if anyone's opinion differs. My 449 is 4.16 bore x 4.125 stroke, what is the BxS on a 455?
