Default What can I expect out of 6.0

I am new to this site and I'm sure this question has been asked before, but I have searched and couldn't find anything. I am building a 67' Chevy truck and I am going to put a 6.0 and manual 6 in it.

I am going to build a 6.0 stroker(4") 402 or 408 whatever it comes out to, forged pistons, good heads/valve train, and about the biggest cam I can run. Because the truck doesn't have to pass smog I can build it as radical as I want. I don't like to cheap out on stuff but I will also do something myself just for the expirience of it. The truck is going to be a weekend/car shows truck so daily drivability is not an issue. For this motor the more radical the better.

My question is- What is the max hp I can expect out of the 402/408? And about how much should I expect to spend?

Like I said smog and drivability are not an issue. Is 600 hp impossible?

Thanks in advance, I can use all the info I can!

you should easily generate 600 crank hp with good compression and heads. be sure to put a carb style intake on it, as well. i'd aim for 11.75:1 cr and either L92 heads or 235 trickflows. remember that single planes kill reversion, so feel free to drop that cam on a 107 lsa.

I am talking about the iron 6.0 litre truck block. Do I have to use the carb set up, I was wanting to go fuel injection. I have heard that you can get more hp out of carb set ups, why is that?

1. Sweet truck
2. With bore4xstroke4 and pullin' that much weight it may be more advantagous to concentrate on torque from 2500-5500. Maybe some TFS or AFR 205-215cc with FAST 90/90. Keep the R's lower w/power everywhere.
3. Not to be a dick but

I did post in the Gen III forum also. I posted here because I may end up using LS2 parts on the block, I think everything will still bolt up. Please let me know if I am incorrect. Also I am trying to keep my torque close to the same as HP but with it being a truck the tires won't ever stick especially if its a torque monster.

I have seen the TFS 225's on a 402 make 600 HP at the crank, unported Fast 90/90 and a cam around 244/248, the TFS 235's will make even more power, so your goal is easy with the right parts.
