To good to be true?
My friend has a 69 chevy truck and he's about to give a mechanic $4000 to build and install a 350 that's supposed to make 500bhp, a 2800stall, unspecified tranny that's built to hold 600hp and all supporting accessories. This sounds too good to be true to me, but my knowledge is limited to ls1's. My friend's impressed because the guy cranked a car with a 350 that he swears makes 750hp NA. Does any of this sound true?

Yeah, someone's getting takin' for a ride here.
750 HP NA is possible on a wide variety of engines. But I have never, ever, even had anyone mention this possible on a 4K build. Let alone on a small displacement 350.

update, The block is supposed to be used. He built an engine for someone and they didn't like it. So he refunded their money and tore the engine down to the block. He's using a pair of used heads which he's having ported. cam and valvetrain new. Trans rebuilt and stall new. I just didn't want to talk my friend out of the deal if it was at all possible.
