No way..Those cylinder walls are shot. You would have to take wayyyy to much material out to get it right. That one gouge looks huge..

"pics of cylinder wall up close. You can feel these lines with your fingernail > when you drag across, but they really shouldnt effect anything, theres no major > damage, just from metal particles.. I was going to take it all apart and have it > honed for new rings and pistons anyway.. but here you go.. "

Your best bet would to have him take the block (i'm sure he can disassemble it, not hard) to a machine shop, and have them inspect it, and all the pistons/crank to give a damage report. Then if he believes it can be honed out, have him get it honed with the final bore measurement, then you can purchase everything. Don't purchase the damaged motor and HOPE it can be fixed, have it fixed before you buy.

Absolutely. It's time for a new block or sleeve that one. New block will be cheaper.

that doesn't look good to me. I'm no engine expert but I'm fairly certain that some of those marks are pretty deep (for the kind of damage we are talking about).
a "quick" hone won't get those all out IMO.
I'd continue to look for another block personally. not something i'd want to take a risk on.

Those score marks are way too deep, the guy that told you that it is OK has no clue. Some vertical scoring is acceptable but that much and that deep is not good.

heres his response

"Hmm.. not sure how to measure it.. If its going to be very high HP you should be having it bored out anyway i would think..? Well I would say you can just come down and if you dont like it then you dont have to trade but thats a long way to haul a car for nothing.. its really not bad though man I would not be afraid to run it with a hone job.. Dude, ther's a huge dent in one of the liners you show. That looks to be .015-.020 deep. That block it beat. Now listen carefully.....

You're not going to bore that out!
