Default Picked up a 99 SS with 32K miles

Hello everyone :-)

About 2 weeks ago I picked up a black 99SS that looks brand new on the inside, previous owners really took care of it and it has barely any miles. It's my replacement (and maybe faster) for the C5 Z06 I had to get rid of. The wife wouldn't let me put the kid in the car and I was only putting 3-4 tanks of gas in it a year so I had to let it go.

It came with lots of receipts, thank goodness because I would never remember everything done do it. Here is the abridged version:

Texas Speed short block with just over 10,000 miles on it
Stage 3 patriot heads
238/240 cam
comp cam lifters
manley push rods
slp ls6 oil pump
bbk throttle body
cv timing chain
slp intake
fidenza flywheel
hooker headers and y pipe

A whole slew of suspension, drag set up, gotta get exactly what is on there for LCA's and the rest of the goods.

It's making 429 whp. Skinnies on front and stock rims on the back. When the snow melts and i can get to discount tire to pick up the new tires I'll post some pics. I don't want to post pics with 2 different wheels on it lol, it looks kind of goofy right now.

I'm thinking there is some more power in there than 429, I might take it in to get retuned, it idles rough on first startup too.

Forgot to add, the 1st owner had it set up for nitrous and it still has all the lines run, and the 2nd owner is a professional painter so he repainted it last summer just for the heck of it.

Those will definitely happen soon!
If the streets are plowed and generally clear I'm going to go get some Nitto 555r drag radials put on tomorrow. Rocking the stock rear wheels right now with aftermarket fronts. The aftermarket rears are toast, the last owner shredded the Mickeys on the back until the steel started flying out.

Since I was getting the tires all replaced I took an opportunity to grab some suspension pics.

Help out a noob :-) what do those do?

I asked the guy at discount tire about the weird looking buckling spring and got real nervous when I saw it. He just so happened to be a f body guy and told me its not a big deal. He said that's what happens when the spring is too big, but im not 100% sure about that. Would they have anything to do with that?

You also need some new shocks all the way around, those oem pos shocks suck...fwiw, not sure why they put tubular lower control arms and left the pos shocks on?

He probably drove it home when the ground was salty/wet and hasn't had time to wash it off.

OP, what state are you from? Slick new ride

Where the two bolt holes are in your wheelwell on the first picture is where they should be.

Definitely, it was clean when I got it and looked like this after a few days. We had a nasty day last week where it rained and snowed in the same day. Chicago sucks. Its like driving through a salt bucket.

Thanks for the welcome everyone. The plan is to get a nice t56 rebuild and a new rear end this summer. Then drive the crap out of it!!!!
