Default New member with and ls1 M3!!

Hello,

Im a long time Bmw enthusiast and just picked up my first v8. Its a 1993 BMW M3 that has a LS1 and T56 out of a 2002 Camaro swap. The car is a built track car, welded in roll cage, sparco seats and harnesses, wilwood brakes, bilstein coilovers, etc. I got a great deal because the motor had a knock. Now i could use a little help as im still trying to learn about ls motors..

I got the motor out and pulled of the pan, number 5 and 6 rod bearings are spun, all the other look just fine as do the main bearings. Now im not sure on the next step to correct the issue,

Can I just turn the 1 crank journal and put oversized bearing in on those 2 rods? Can I just replace 2 rods or do I need to purchase a whole balanced set? I plan on leaving the motor fairly stock for now so I dont kill the rear differential. Any help would be appreciated to get me pointed in the right direction.

Thanks in advance!

Pictures are soon to come

Default spun bearing

To be safe I would replace the crankshaft, new main & rod bearing and the affected connecting rods, consider a new oil pump too, was their sludge causing oil starvation , low level or inadequate pressure or just abuse

I will look into the oil pump, thanks for the tip. Could I just have the crank machined instead of replace. Rebuilding on a budget here!

Could probably pick up a good used crank for less than having that one machined. Just a thought.

Im located in Sebring Fl. I got the rest of the motor dissassembled. All other bearing surfaces look ok. Id like to just match 2 used rods to the rotating assembly so it's balanced, maching the one crack journal and put new rod and main bearings, hone the cylinders with fresh rings and reassemble. Is this practical? Ill have pictures up soon.
