Default Greetings from IL

My son and I are drag racers. We have an 85 camaro black with a 383 motor. We also race my Red 2010 camaro ss L99. We are in the process of doing some modifications to both cars. The 85 camaro will be done this week and the 2010 will be done within the next couple of weeks. I decided to join ls1 tech to get some input on things and try and sell some things that are coming off the cars. I do ask a lot of questions because I like to make sure I get everything correct before I purchase anything.

Welcome to the site. What are the details of the 383 and SS?

The 383 is a motor we bought from a buddy of mine. The block has concrete in the bottom for alcohol. My ss motor has been cryofroze. We have changed the hole exhaust system from front to back. We had an afm -3 cam in the car. We are now putting a vvt-3 cam in and doing a dod/AFM delete. It has a 3800 triple disc Circle d torque convertor and 3.91 gears. Putting out 480rwhp now. When we get finished we should be around 540rwhp on a n/a motor. Putting new drive shaft and axles in on top of new pistons and rods. Then we might shoot it with nitrous. Don't know about that yet. If we do then we will be at around 650rwhp.

Sounds like some stout setups. How does concrete in the bottom of the block work? I've heard of it many times before, just never understood how it works or how its done.

Most of the time when you blow a motor its out the bottom. Concrete makes it stronger but also adds weight.
