It is a 5.3L. I want to lower 2" and it will be a daily driver with 4wd for when the the weather go's to hell. What the hell you want to lower your 4x4 and pep it up, yes! Everyone else is jacking there's with big tires and no power.

Any plans for an aftermarket torque converter?

If you plan to do a lot of towing I would recommend against it, but if you occasionally tow, and you're are looking for an impressive gain in performance an aftermarket torque converter is hard to beat. Plus it will help get you into the powerband of the larger camshaft faster. For 5.3s especially trucks I like to stay conservative on the camshaft size so that we make power where you will actually use it. I would like to see you in something like a 212/218 camshaft, and a something like a Yank truck thruster 2600 converter. This converter also retains stock towing capacity.

Thanks very good info.Headers and off road exhaust what do you think. The truck is a short box standered cab?

I would definitely recommend headers, and exhaust to go along with it.

Having your heads ported or purchasing another set of ported 5.3 castings would be a good way to gain another 30-40rwhp.

Realistically how much are you looking to spend on headers and exhaust? There is a big variation in pricing depending on brand and material.

The cam Aaron recommended is a great cam for a truck. Look at Speed Engineering for their long tubes...best bang for buck header I have ever seen (I have two sets).
