Talking ex-Mustang guy about to cross over

Hey all,
My name is James, and ever since my Mustang got totaled I've been wanting to make the switch. So I was browsing these boards for quite some time to see what the popular mods are and such. It seems like a lot of you have true duals with the x-pipe, and those who have the H had it custom fabricated. I was wondering if there are any vendors who make the H? I'd like to dump it before the axle, which is the setup I had in the Stang, except the Stang came stock w/ the true dual H .
And I'd like to get 400+whp out of it if/when I get a f-body. How much will this affect reliability? Can the stock internals take that much abuse? Can I go on 80+ mile trips without worries?

Thanks in advance.

Welcome, Im not to sure if any vendors make an h pipe for an f-body but I could be wrong. A lot of people tend to go with the TSP set up which is pretty nice. Id go with bullets or sweet thunders for the resonator but no matter what true duals sound sick on our cars. I myself have the raspy set up which some dont like (LTs, ORY and LM1). With bolt ons, the right cam and a tune 400rwhp is not a problem. 80 mile trip will be no issue. What year are you looking at Im assuming a LS1 powered vehicle and thats what my response is based on, goodluck.

stock internals can handle 400 WHP no problem. 500 is when you start getting up there.

Is that all it takes for 400whp? On a Stang, those mods are good for about 300whp lol. No replacement for displacement is true.

I'm looking at the late LS1 f-bodies.

How about if I want a deep, window rattling tone?

For a deeper tone id go with the bullets on a TSP true dual set up with LTs and yes it doesnt take much to hit the 400 mark with bolt ons and a good tune you should be 340-360. My 00 M6 did 322/332 with a lid and cat back on a dynojet. Keep in mind though that every dyno is different, there are a lot of varibles and its only a number id be more concered with track times unless you are into the whole bragging rights of dyno numbers?

I had a local shop fab up a xpipe with true duals dumped at the axle as well; i got magnaflow 4X9's for mufflers and it sounds great. at idle it rumbles quietly standing next to the car but you can definitely feel the air waves and ground vibrations from it. at 3k rpms its amazing. definitely recommend anything true duals. oh and i had to have cats on it too due to regulations.

As for 400 whp, you could maaaybe do that with a cam, ls6/FAST intake and a beefier valvetrain; looooots of old info and everyday new info on cams in the engine sections. get a set of heads and you'll hit the mark no problem, anywhere between 420 and 450 is a piece of cake with heads, cam, and intake.

Yeah, all the hp in the world is useless if I can't put it to the ground.
Is low-mid 11's on street radials possible?

I'd say the top of mid 11's to high 11's is very, very capable of doing with these cars as long as you have the right mods. Remember suspension components , we all get so caught up on hp and forget the rest of the setup is lacking in some way. I go mid 11's with my car no problem.

Yes, our cars have two knock sensors. They are located under the intake manifold.

Welcome. Bolt ons LS1s can be easily in high 11s man. W/ stock suspension, worned ET MTs, full exhaust/LS6 intake/stalled auto mated w/ 3.42/a good tune, I went 12.2. I didn't take out the swaybar on that run either.

Welcome! I think you'll find it a lot easier to crank 400hp out of an LS1 than a NA 4.6

welcome. if you dont already know, its pretty understood that f-body rearend suck fat ones so if your wanting to run aggressive tires and hooking them up at the track, your rears gonna snap. dont waste the money on a rear gear swap, just order a new rear(12 bolt, 9 inch, or an S60).
