well the stock spring is probably good for about 45-50 psi, but you probably still have psi at about 20 at hot idle, if you want to raise the the pressure after then engine is hot a spring probably wont help you too much

shim it......but use ONE shim.....ONLY ONE
its like the shim preloads the spring, and that in turn, raises oil pressure. or, if you are cheap, just get some thick racing oil.....25w-50 or somthin

i started running it simply because im in phoenix and the 5w oil is like friggin water down here once its warmed up. thicker is a lil better for me but not too much. brought my oil pressure up like 5 PSI too.

Below 20psi would be a small flag but given that it goes back up with slightest blip of a throttle I wouldn't worry to much. I would however want a bare minimum of 40psi under WOT and 30 psi while cruising around...

What are you basing this statement on.
For those of you looking for actual information his post is completely wrong, based on god knows what but it is not on any valid information.
I think folks need to try and understand how things work.
Here is an informative post on oiling. I would not call it the beall endall discussion on the topic but will teach most of you a lot.

One comment I want to specifically add is that if you do things like running thicker oil to jack pressure without ever changing the bypass spring in the pump you are actually reducing flow to the bearings because you are triggering the pump bypass sooner.
Far as MEASURED data a specific 0w-30 is the best oil going for these engines, anyone who thinks 10w-30 is thicker than 0w-30 or 5w-30 needs to stop posting on the subject till they do some research and have some vague clue how this all works.

ok im not saying i know all about oil but isnt the first number as in 5w30 the 5 mean its a oil rating of the weight at running temp which would mean that at running temp the 10w30 is thicker than the 5w correct? or obviously not if i go by what you just posted? im just a little confused here. . .

and i just read that post and althought it was very informative it doesnt go along really with what you said. it is stating that yes the 10w30 is thicker and has a higher shear rating than the lower 5w30 but the 5w30 flows better which is better becuase it maintains the layer of oil between the metal contacts of our valve train, so then technically a 10w30 wouldnt be going too high viscosity wise, and he was saying that you only need a HV oil pump if it is higher than 10W30 or thats what it sounds like at least.

Been awhile since I read the post but posted it more for mechanial function info not the oil info.
The first number is a cold number, the second number is hot number which is what matters. 30wt. is a RANGE not a measurement and for instance Castrol syntec 0w-30 is thicker than Mobil 1 10w-30.
Castrol Syntec is CST 12.0 at 100C and the M1 10w-30 is 10.7CST at 100c
These numbers change a little over time and there could be more up to date info but this is still representative.
I believe the range for being called a 30wt is 10.0-12.9, lower being thinner.
There are guys that know a LOT more than me, but most guys rely solely on advertizing and assumptions/wivestales and I know a bit more than them.
Here is where to get actual lubricant information rather than all the bad info passed around places like this forum. It is going to challenge a lot of what you thought you knew. I do not spend the time over there I once did.
