Intakes are different and I believe there may be differences in accessories, i.e. A/C, alternator, idler pully locations.

I just installed one into my F-body from an 07 TBSS. Accessories are different somewhat. like the PS pump and use different mounting points = different brackets. Everything else as far as the motor is the same as any other LS2 except the ones that went in vettes got sodium filled valves.

Actually, all LS2s had the same valves.

Accessories for each car it came in were indeed different

TBSS got a truck style intake. If you put it in your 240 you will want to swap to a car style intake and accessory drive.

Depending on the year, the reluctor wheel may be different as well, the TBSS had the 24x for longer than any other model. The GTO may have a 24x or 58x as well depending on what year car it was pulled from.

someone correct me if i'm wrong but i'm pretty sure the only vettes with the sodium valves are the ls6's (ZO6). the ls2 and ls6 both have 243 heads... the difference is the ls6 valves are sodium filled. not sure bout the c6/ZO6 but those have ls7's not ls2's

It's my understanding, and according to GM Media online, that 2006 spec LS2 engines were run off E38 computers (2 main connectors).
The 58x E38's are easy to distinguish from the earlier 24x E40 computers which had 3 main terminal connectors.

Pic of E38 (for 58x)

Pic of E40 (for 24x)

So why can't I find a picture anywhere of a 2006 GTO with a 2 terminal E38 computer ?
(Maybe because 2006 GTO's were fitted with 2005 spec 24x reluctor engines)

Another 2006 GTO

We can't see if the crank position sensor is black (24x) or grey (58x) so visually the only indicator is the computer used.

I'm looking deeper into it, you are generally very informative and knowledgeable, so what you are saying has merit for sure.

GM documentation being wrong, no surprise there.
I'm interested to know what engines they turn out to be out the back of your shop.

As far as I know the first engines used in Oz that were 58x reluctor, front sump (like GTO), and 6.0 LS2 block .......had the L92 (5364) heads.
Locally they were called L98 if they had no DOD hardware or L76 if they were fitted with DOD hardware. They all had L76 car intake manifolds. I have one here Mfg Jan 2006. Only Holden used these, they weren't used by HSV.

With the LS2 engines (243 heads), fitted only to HSV cars, the change from 24x reluctor to 58x reluctor was held off until the changeover from VZ to VE car models. Mid 2006ish. The 58x LS2's here all had the same rear sump as Corvette and the same crank balancer and water pump as Corvette. Flat faced waterpump pulley.

I have a '07 TBSS motor in my Mustang using GTO TB/intake, injectors, accesories, T56, and an E67 ecm. It's a 58x tooth motor. No US GTO's, '05 or '06, had a 58x motor. All GTO's used the E40 ecm and it won't work with a 58x motor.

Well thanks to the nice folks at ls1gto.com I think we can finally put the myth of the 58x 2006 GTO to bed for good.
Here are the pics of the last 2006 USA GTO built by Holden (tag says June 06). You will notice that it has the same 3 connector E40 computer as all previous GTO's.

"The pics I posted are of the actual last GTO produced and brought in by GM along with the "new G8" for the 2007 Nationals in Columbus. This GTO was displayed in the Concourse Ballrooom, along with the Barbados "Pilot" car.
I saw both cars in person." BRAZEN06GTO

All 2006 TBSS's have an E40 ECM and 24x reluctor. They changed over in 2007.
