heads/cam and a blower huh...on stock bottom end?

Call AI and tell them what you want.

also check into lloyd elliot from what i have heard he is a good guy to deal with when it comes to lt1. I wouldnt count on the stock bottom end holding up much longer with head and cam and a blower all together. Good luck.

It ultimately falls on your budget and goals.

Are you looking to spend $1395, $1995 or $2495? What are you end goals for power and performance?

With a bit more info, the board (or even better would be to call Ai) should be able to point you in the right direction.

You can make big power on the stock bottm end:

man before you go any further on your topend i would be looking into forged stuff in that bottom end...so do your bottom end and then go with the 200cc head and cam package with AI and then have them pp your intake...get the bottom end done first!! forge it!! that supercharger and topend combo would be sick but your bottom end has to be able to hold up to it

I agree, a nice set of ported heads and custom blower cam will be a VERY nice addition to your setup.
But it's very likely to push your motor beyond the bottom end's ability to keep up.
If you're looking at better than 8psi, I think you are very thin ice.

If you build it right the first time, you won't have to fix it later.
If you wait to see what breaks, you're going to end up spending a crapload of
money fixing it and whatever else it destroys.

Then again, if you want to run an 6-8psi pulley, you just might get away with it.
The dyno Tireburnin posted is a good example of a 6psi setup working just fine and putting down decent numbers.
I wonder if the owner is ever tempted to try a 12-15psi pulley

As stated above, talk to your H/C guy, they'll give you plenty of info.
The shops mentioned have very smart people at the helm.

Absolutely!
The stock bottom end will handle ported heads / Hydraulic cam without an issue.
Just keep in mind that you are limited to about 6300rpm, so don't go installing
something with a peak out at 6800rpm, you'll never be able to use the power.
Most H/C shops offer a ~230 duration cam with an appropriate operating range.

Heads, cam and boost = Kaboom.

You may be ok if you get heads that will lower the compression but even than it may throw a rod or something any day. And i know you would want to jump off a bridge if you just finished the top end and than you bottom end lets go.

I would rebuild the bottom end with forged pistons and rods. Throw a blower cam in there. You can make up the power you would be getting from the heads with more boost. Than when you have 2k laying arond get a set of ai's 200cc heads or le3's and put down big numbers.

Or spend a little less and get a budget set of Ai 190cc heads ($1395), a cam ($250-350) and have your block bored .030 and a set of forged pistons/cheap eagle rods ($1200) for a cheap 600rwhp capable engine. Ai can do some mean budget stuff, you just have to call them.

I think you meant the 185cc heads not the 190s, otherwise very good ideas.

This focus on a 'blower cam" is funny. Was a time when I believed such things but I constantly learn.

Do fill us in Dwayne. For some odd reason, a lot of us are stuck on the idea
that a cam with heavy overlap (such as those used in N/A cars) would not
work as well as one designed specifically for a blown application.

Last time I rode in a supercharged Fbody with an N/A cam, it bucked back and forth below 1800rpm.

Or as you simply saying that the stock cam is as good as any special blower grind?

I wont argue with you.
Our opinions vary substantially on many topics.

No I meant 190cc heads...new offering of the same great product. I remember paying $1800 for the exact same 190cc head just 5 years ago that is forsale for $1395. The 185cc heads are gone in favor of the new budget 190cc head.

I think it is the same head that made 1012rwhp on a turbo setup? Maybe that was the 200s?
