Default My custom flowmaster exhaust

Heres some pics of my custom flowmaster exhaust. I have a Hogan catless 3inch downpipe for starters. Then I had my old shop cut off the 2.5 inch flange and weld on 3inch pipe. I'm running 3 inch all the way back to the y. The y splits into 2 2.5inch pipes then runs into 2.5in/out flowmaster deltaflow 40 series mufflers. And finishing it off is 4 inch flowmaster polished stainless tips. It sound mean as hell...and LOUD!!! Absolutely love it and get lots of compliments on it. So enough rambling and heres the pics.

Looks good. You should have had them align those tips better.

Yea I know about the tips. They ain't perfect, but oh well. Close enough for me. I mite fix then eventually. They look good and sound awesome. Thats what I was most concerned about. Lost a little low end put gained up top. Love the flowmaster sound! Neighbors don't care for it i'm sure. Especially at 6 a.m.

I love the sound of mine. I guess I'm lucky my neighbors are car people, but they are more exotic lovers. They still respect my little Chevy SB.

Seems to be a nice set up...... the welds are a bit sloppy though.

I want to do a similar setup, but is 3" before the Y to much for my LTZ? If you don't mind me asking how much did that cost.

I can definitely vouch for the loudness. When he left the car show me and him we at last week , he mashed the gas and I'm pretty sure several people were like "that thing has got a v8?!"

I get the same kinda reactions. It's definitely a head turner. I love to watch people around the car when I go by and their heads shoot up to see what that was. It's classic.

*cough* Sound clip? Screw pics It could look like a monkey tossed it together, but if it sounds and performs great, that's all that matters

I wouldn't go bigger than 2.5inch before they y on a v6 personally unless your using forced induction. Maybe go 2.5inch to the y and out. Don't know if I'd go with flowmasters on a v6 though. Heard some that sounded great and some that sounded tinny. They would be very loud. V6 with exhaust sound great idling and at low rpms(up to 3000-3500). But get kinda raspy and tinny at higher rpms. I'd look into some SLP powerflow mufflers or loudmaouths. I know the powerflows sound great on a v6. I paid about $170 for both mufflers, $100 for the tips and not much for the exhaust. An old shop I used to work for took care of me. A 20 pack of bud light and a couple 20's gets a lot done at that shop!

I have Flowmaster's with 3.5" tips on there now and it sounds really good. Even up top it sounds good. But they do scream. I was planing on doing 2.5" all the way back to two Magnaflow round mufflers. Something a little quieter and Magnaflow has a good sound.

That sounds like a plan. Bet that will sound pretty good too. Magnaflow makes a catback setup for you i think. I don't know which would be cheaper or more convient for you. But either way I think it will sound great and you'll be happy with it.

Has anyone thought of trying cherry bombs or some other glass pack??? They are dirt cheap and sound really good on the old muscle cars.

How do you think a glass pack would sound on our cars????

I don't think they would sound that good. They sounded great on old cars but that is old cars. Car now-a-days need a more defind sound. Then crackling, loud. Plus a new car will never sound like an old carbarated, big cam with header car
