got killed by a z28
my car: '02 SS with fipk, long tubes and a crappy exhaust(true duals but goes down to 2''), untuned. M6
his car: '02 z28 with a lid, long tubes and 3'' exhaust and a tune. A4
My friend got a new car recently and everybody's been wanting us to race, so we finally got a chance to do it tonight. I really didn't want to race because my tires are worn so bad that their literally like slicks but i figured, why not. he offered to give me a length and the hit, but i don't like racing like that, so we ran twice, starting side by side. we went from a dig and i spun badly no matter how easy i left the line. he just chirped and was ahead by 3-4 lengths by the time i got traction. after i hooked, he stopped pulling but he had to much of a lead. next i wanted to go from a 40 roll just to see what would happen if traction wasn't a factor, but he wouldn't go higher than 30, so i had to use 1st and spin again, with about the same outcome. i told him when i got some decent tires, and maybe my exhaust and a tune, we'd run again. just thought i'd share.

Yeah you need at least 2.5'' or 3'' boom tubes for clearance. When you get your new tires in get a video of you finishing off the old ones. p.s if you want better traction get some dr.pepper or vht

I think untuned played more of a hurt than your tires. Obviously bald and spinning play a part and you weigh a tad more, but you guys have roughly the same mods and he's an auto. (more DT loss).
Get that bad boy tuned. I'm sure your A/F isn't at a comfy spot.

yea tires are a big part of you loosing. i had the exact same race but with a 97 ss lt1 a4 with exhaust only. we went from a dig and 30 mph roll. the dig he got me off the line because my stock tires were lookin like slicks. so spun through 2 gear. as i got traction i pulled up to him but he shut down. then when we did the roll i had 3 other people in my car and spun from 1 gear. i ended up winning by like 1 1/2 cars? now with my nitto 555r drag radial tires that didnt happen anymore.

no pour dr.pepper on the tires, drive around the water puddle the crew sprays for those that want to do a burnout and your set. The crew would probably get mad if you jumped out of the car before doing a burnout and poored dr.pepper on there track.
