What head gaskets to use?

What head gaskets to use? I'm going with an LS2 stroker 402 with AFR heads and a Procharger F1@15lbs of boost this winter. I will be using ARP head studs but what head gaskets should I be using? What else can I do to help keep the heads on this thing?

I am using gm ls7 mls.I think they are only three layer though but should be good to 20psi in fact there is at least one other guy running them with good success.If have any problems with them will go to cometic. The cometic work good in my dsms but cometic were twice the price of the gm ls7.

We use the GM MLS gaskets on LS2 402 builds such as these without any problems. Bob

I have the LS7 gaskets as well, now.
I had the cometics on my 6.0L with milled 317's all motor. A few dyno pulls, and 5 passes down the 1/4. When I pulled it down to build the 370, there was evidence that the combustion was leaking past the fire ring in a couple of spots. $150 for a couple of hours of use on a stock NA motor? It seems to be hit or miss with those gaskets.

The 5 layer GM MLS gaskets are are 4.100 bore, if your using AFR 225's they call for a larger bore. What about the Fel-Pro's, they have a 6 layer MLS does anyone carry those?

Not to *****, but how do the 5 layer 3.90 bore gaskets fare with 6.0 heads compared to the 4" bore ones on a 3.903 bore bottom end (347)? I think my shop gave me the smaller ones when I assembled the motor going by the receipts. Am I in for it or are there any differences?

6.0 MLS gaskets are 3-layer with a 4.039" bore.
6.2 MLS gaskets are 5-layer with a 4.100" bore.
Compressed thickness varies depending where you look.
Arun, are you saying AFR 225's call for a gasket with larger than a 4.100" bore?

I still was talking to few guys running the ls7 head gaskets at least to mid teens boost levels with zero problems on the afr 225s. I do think they are only 3 layer but not sure how many layer is as important as the composition of the head gaskets. I also run cometic to pretty high boost like 25 plus psi on my 97 talon without any problems.I did lightly coat them with copper spray on install and have arp head studs. Some guys seem to have great luck with cometics some not so much. I dont' plan on running much past 15psi on my build so hoping the ls7 can do the job.
