What to do to fit 28 tall et drags?
Hey i'm hopefully pickin up a set of prostars with 28x10.5 et drags on them. The rims are 15x8 with 5.5 BS, i was wondering if i'll be able to fit that tire, and if any cutting or grindin will need to be done. I know i'll have to touch up on the caliper but i mean like in the wheel well? I heard i'll need adj. LCA's to center the tire? anything else?
Thanks!
Thanks!

i just sold the wheels that you have. I had a 275 60 15 mt street radial which translates to a 28 inch tire. it clears fine. The caliper scraping got to me and i sold them for a set of more streetable wheels. i got tired of the skinnies in front. I had 0 traction issues on the street with that tire i listed. i dont think you need a tire that wide. my power and mods are in my sig so you have an example of what kinda power they keep to the ground.

Nope. You'll have to grind the **** out of your calipers to fix 15" rims, but as far as tire fitment you'll be fine.
I had to mess with my PHA when I did my 28x11.5's but on a 10.5 you shouldnt have any problem at all.
just grinding. Make sure you don't grind through to the caliper pins and you'll be fine. I used a sharpie and colored everywhere I was grinding, then spun the wheel and see where the rim scraped off the marker to see where I had to grind more.
takes a while cause you have to keep checking and you take quite a bit off, but just pay attention and you'll be fine.

Alright awesome, as for not needing that much tire i'm gettin a hell of a deal locally for the pro-stars and et drags so thats the only reason i'm gettin them. We'll see how they work out and may possibly switch back down to a 26 tall like i have now.
Thanks for the help though guys.

With a 28" tall bias-ply tire such as a ET STREET or an ET DRAG you will have tire growth with tire speed, or during your burnout. With a radial tire such as a M/T ET Street Radial 28" tire, your fine. But with a 28" Bias-Ply tire that will grow, they will rub, unless your wheel well lips are rolled, and you will probably have to hammer the wheel wells to fit a 10" ET Drag.

my 95 Z28 calipers easily clearing 28x12.5x15 ET Streets
I consider them too big even though they do "fit" the brakes and no hammering on the wells.
My radius llip was rolled and the lower rear quarter smoothed for the "growth"
looks cool but just overkill and any passengers on the street they rub.
I'm going to a drag radial that does not stick out so much and a 17" wheel.
You can fit them but it only looks cool. I had just as good a 60' with a Nitto dr
and mine is a mid 11 second car.

Those are the exact same as mine, except mine are only 10.5 wide, but seem wider than that. Do you have any troubles with the tire rubbing at the track on the top end or during the burnout? I got competition engineering shocks tonight too and was going to set them on the firmest setting so the *** end doesn't give much.

No
only rub on the lip with passengers or harder bumps. No wheel well hammering, they almost fit. With a firmer shock setting -CE also - they may stop hitting but ride and launch will suck.
The top edge of the tire barely does not go into the well, another 1/4" in and they would have not hit.
Still too much meat for the 60' time IMO

oh, and I have a 9" with reloaction brackets, round non adjustable lower arms with an adjustable panhard rod.
I'd say smooth your caliper like mine and those should go right on.
My panels are a little opened behind the tire at the bottom of the quarter panel for the large diameter.

Alright, as of now i think i'm preety set on gettin 26 talls. My car will only be a mid to low 12 sec car next year and i think the 28 tall will hurt both my 60ft and mph alike. So the 28's are for sale if anyone is interested.

I have these wheels http://www.billetspecialties.com/ite...d=251&pid=1027 with Hoosier 28" tall DOT tires https://www.hoosiertire.com/Drtire.htm.. No cutting or grinding needed at all to make them fit. I had to grinde the front calipers a little but that was about it!!
