I was told this was on a engine dyno with a full exhaust in place.

I also read somewhere how people did not know this, purchased the setup, called SLP ranting and raving and even SLP said it was not rated as RWHP.

That's what I've read/heard, I'm sure there is someone out there that has the facts though.

they advertise evertything in flywheel hp. Thats probably around 415-420rwhp

That people would actually think SLP parts could possibly make that to the ground I don't even thingk their C5R based motors can do that!

I have I guy here right now with this package. We tuned it and made 400rwhp and 399rwtq, but we have had a few problems with the car, there might be another 10-15hp in it, just have to track down the bugs. There is no way that 485 is rwhp.

Like everyone else stated. I would assume depending on tuneing, if you have headers, ls6 intake and other bolt ons. . anywhere from 380rwhp to 425rwhp (and depending on tranny with it's mods, stall, gears, etc)

he's got it. Everything SLP advertises is always in Flywheel HP.

Still not bad, considering they "say" that this package will retain very good driving characteristics, and fuel economy.

MTI does... "MTI 475 HP Heads and Cam Package".
Nothing wrong with that.

..that [MTI ad] is actually more misleading since they don't say which cam they use to get those #'s... I would think there is a *slight* difference in power/drivability/etc. between their Stealth cam and X1... but one advertisement line is too long to explain details.

I have a friend who got SLPs old H/C package that was rated at 445 the new one is a bigger cam im pretty sure. Well he dynoed 400 hp and 400tq with A4 with SLP LTs, Offroad pipe, and SLP loudmouth with SLP lid and LS6 intake. Tune was done by Speed Inc.

Actually the latest SLP catalog I got in the mail claimed their 427 makes 650 fwhp, which seems kinda optimistic to me

Just curious here, why is it that SLP is constantly ragged on, yet other companies are held in such high esteem?

I have bought plenty of SLP parts, and while their HP claims are a bit exaggerated, the quality is top notch, the pricing is competative, and because they use OEM suppliers, their parts are often indistingishable from GM. This is good in Colorado where we have IM240 tests with underhood inspections.

With tuning at the flywheel on H/C car with stock manifolds - absolutely.

Anybody who bashes SLP and has their SS/WS6 factory package at the same time, has some serious problems with logic, IMO.

i only buy slp's specials like the blem lid, torsen take out diff's(2) stuff like that...im sure as hell not paying 3-4 grand for a head cam package though that i could get myself for like 1500 lol headers that arent yet proven to perform as advertized stuff like that doesnt really turn me on. But the specials can be good and since they are close i can save on shipping by heading down there now and again.
