Default P1sc or F1A

Alright looking for some input from people who have run one or the other. I have a P1sc sitting at my shop right now. But I have the chance to buy an F1a for a very reasonable price that is really pretty hard to pass up.

I would like a street car with the ability to drive 700 miles if I so chose. Would I be opening a can of worms by putting on the F1A and be replacing parts on a weekly basis. Granted I expect some **** to break but I really don't like making a habit of being stranded. How realible are you guys running an F1A and a six speed?

haven't done a sig. The car is a 99 Camaro SS, I plan on keeping my t56 I have a 9" other than that the car is kind of a blank slate just trying to get opinions before I commit to one direction or another. I want it to be fast but am I going to far with an F1A or be will I be disappointed with a p1sc.

If you can go bigger, go bigger. F1A sounds great to me, and I'm a P1SC owner.

You'll probably have a hard time keeping the stock bottom end alive with the F1. If you're planning on a forged motor anyway do the F1 for sure.

Id get the F1a and just pulley it up until you get a bottom end to handle it. Like mentioned above, that stock bottom end isnt going to last very long with any decent amount of boost from an F1a.

Could do that, I'd think you'd still have problems with the boost creeping up. It would definitely be a very inefficient combo trying to keep the boost that low with a F1.

The F-1A can work out just fine with a stock bottom end provided you have a custom oversize pulley made for it. I had a customer do just that for his 2004 GTO. On his GTO he had a 5.50 pulley made, but the GTO crank pulley is a little smaller than the 8 rib crank pulley on an F Body. This means you would need to have an even larger pulley made for the F Body. Keep in mind that the F Body would require upgrading from the six rib assembly that you most likely have now. This will also require switching to a new balancer made by ATI Performance Products. I sell all the necessary upgrade parts on my website at this link. http://www.exoticperformanceplus.com...l?category=318 Bob

I ditched my p1sc for an f1a last year and haven't lost any kind of reliability and gained 330whp so far, still working out my fueling.

Thanks for all the input guys. I kind of figured if I put an f1a on it that the ls1 wouldn't be long for this world so that doesn't hurt my feelings. I just want to get it running on the stock bottom end for a while and take my time building a good motor. Would like a iron block for FI anyways.

I just seem to have heard too many horror stories on here once people start getting around 800hp. Which I figure is what I would put out with an f1a in its peak efficiency range and the right parts. I want to enjoy driving the car. I don't wanna be like the 5.0 mustang boys fixing crap all the time. Is wanting good reliability with an F1A expecting to much?

Thanks for the info on the GTO Bob. I will be sure to look for it on your site.

Have you pulled your AC? With the bigger F1, it will be easier if that's gone. You will have less overheating problems and you will have more room for a bigger radiator with dual fans.

If you need your AC, then you could be in for a battle with overheating in hot stop and go traffic, even if you upgrade to dual fans and bigger radiator.

Also, the F1 will be somewhat louder at idle, enough to give some people a headache if you're not used to it.

The F1A is a no brainer in this comparison. Sell the P1 you have and buy the cheap F1A.

The F1A is very easy to turn, and it's the exact same size as the P1...

how about a d1 for the guy . it's not far from a f1 ( that far) . plus the guy is stock and unless he builds his engine it will be pointless. the d1 is just more practical for a daily driver.
