Default CC306 with Split rockers

So, can anyone think of any pros for putting 1.5's and 1.6's on a cc306 cam.

Figured Id put the 1.5 on the intake and the 1.6 on the exhaust for a lift/duration of...

.510/.576 230/244

Put them on the other way around. 1.6 on intake and 1.5 on the exhaust.

Then it would be a .544/.540.. and wouldnt you want more exhaust lift on an LT1...?

yep, 1.6 on intake.

Intake responds to more lift and the exhaust is less sensative.

So they should do 1.6 on intake and 1.5 on exhaust?

My plan is to put the 1.6 on the intake and 1.5 on exhaust, but was just curious to see is there was any pros for going the opposite route other than making the cam really choppy. Anyone have any vids of a 306 with 1.6's on the intake and 1.5's on the exhaust.

Why wouldn't you just put 1.6s on both sides? Is there an advantage to running a smaller rocker on the exhaust side?

turbo and nitrous cars tend to respond better to more on the exhaust side.

I would suggest a 1.6 on both but if you are already stuck with a set of 1.6/1.5 rockers, put the 1.6 on the intake.

Well I HAVE to get in on this thread. I have this setup in my car. I went this route due to valve clearance, my tuner suggested the split. But yes u got to do 1.6 intake 1.5 exhaust to make it work nicely. As for sound depends on how well the car is tuned and the type exhaust u have. I have the 2OTL SLP exhaust and was tuned good so yes u can hear my cam but its not obnoxious which is good if u dont want the cops staring at u. I dont know what u got but I went with lunati lifters, 918 beehives, and magnum hardened push rods, also changed the timing chain and gears to the extreme duty kit. I dynoed 400 at the crank 355rwhp w/ untouched oem heads. Dont know what this gets me on the 1/4mi seeing I have ran it yet but im also running 3.73's on a M6 so this will help.

I am going to build an LT1 with these parts...P&P aluminum heads, P&P intake manifold, cc306 cam (obviously), comp springs (good to .600 lift, forgot the part #), GMPP Full roller split rockers (1.5/1.6) Full length headers, new OEM timing chain and plan on getting forged pistons and a 3200 stall. Rest is going to stay stock. looking to make big power on spray (using a 300+ direct port wet shot) I fear the rotating assy will be my weak spot... Its going in a 4l60, 4600lb caprice... caboom anyone?

Everyone on the Impala form says the 306 is not good for an auto car of my weight... and comp recommends using split rockers to help the cam out (word of mouth from local Impala guys)...

Anything to say about any of this stuff guys?

Stock rods and crank aren't going to like a 300 shot. And I don't see how split rockers would make more power than 1.6s on both.

1.6's on both does make a tad more power but not enough to make it worth it cause the first time u speed shift and hit the wrong gear which happens to everyone dont care how good u are u can kiss them exhaust valves good bye and probably piston too.

As for 300 are u crazy u will blow that motor sky high. Ever seen Fast N Furious? lol on LT1 ive been told 125max

I have over 60 sprays on a 150 wet shot with bottle temps pushing 1400PSI . At least 30 of which are from 0-130MPH... Motor runs better than when I got the car 2 years ago. Only changes are ignition and rockers... 165k on the motor... oil changes every 2k and tranny's every 15 seem to do the trick..

mmm, I was hoping to keep the crank and rods in the the heads, cam and direct port motor and put forged pistons in it.... But if they cant take a big ole shot they'll have to go.

I'm at 490rwhp with a 130-140 shot on my H/C nitrous set-up. If you heard this thing screaming in the 1/4 you'd wonder how it stays together. A 300 DP might be pushing it.

Dont get the wrong idea im just giving u advice. Im with z-rated on this one though even if u do have built up lt1 i wouldnt go more than the 150 ur already using.

Besides what makes an LT1 Built up? People can say that a cam only car with the supporting mods such as mine can be a built up lt1, anything major that is done to the motor like full bolt ons, c/h swap, cam only swap, piston or piston and crank swap can all be considered a built up LT1. IMO If your making more hp than what the car has stock than your built up. Just some are more built up than others. .02

Built usually reffers to bottom end upgrades. I would not consider my 355 LT1 with DART heads and a cam built, just modded. Bottom end is stock
