I noticed a lot of noise coming from the torque converter area. I pulled the transmission and luckily I got to it before it exploded. I just dont understad, i torqued them in sequence and to spec. Wondering if Its a freak deal and do another OEM one, or upgrade to a tci?

Geeze, makes me wonder if I have the stocker on mine or not. I know my motor has been yanked before, as well as the tranny, but who knows :\ I won't be able to check for a long time, and by then I'll forget So I just cross my fingers now and hope it's not factory Hopefully I'll remember to at least look when I get around to putting my trans back in!

well..I tightened the bell housing bolts with a 1/2 inch mac impact. And all of the crank bolts were tight. I just think it was a weak flexplate like most. Ill just have to upgrade.
Not saying your wrong. That probably is a cause of a lot of them. Just wasn't the case for me! thanks for the input!

I cracked one on a 383 stroker/700R4 combo once after a high rpm thrash. Blew the nose off the starter next time I tried to start it, and cracked the outside bolt hole in the block. Couldn't ever start it after that because the starter would deflect even after replacing the flex. Done with autos!
