Last Minute Turbo change?...build almost finished...help?!?!
Alright guys, step in and criticize and generally belittle me....lol. Here's the deal, I'm about done with this build, that like many has kinda snowballed over time and stepped up a bit from where the car originally started. Here are the specs...the car is pretty much together...it runs...all thats left is tuning...some interior and bolting up the turbo.
The setup consists of:
Iron 402, forged rotating assembly, 11:1 compression ( I know.....)
L92 CNC heads....360 @ .600
L76 Intake, aftermarket rails, 79lb injectors
228@.050 ish Texas Speed turbo cam
Turbo 400/ manual VB/ brake
12 bolt/ 4 link/ spool/ 3.55 gear 28x11.5 slick
The car is approximate 3000lb raceweight, destined for mostly track use with very light car show/ cruise street use. No options anymore, not looking for street boost really.
The goal for the setup is 750-850 RWHP with very safe tune, always to be ran on race gas.
Now the setup I made is custom headers, 2.5" into 3" crossover to T4, and turbo I have currently for it is new Turbonetics T78 w/ T4 flange.
I think that turbo has a chance of getting it there, but probably will have a huge amount of backpressure and make the headers life even rougher than they should be. Im looking for ideas here, I don't want to get into some real high dollar turbo and Im not looking to maximize this combination, I would truly be alright with 750/ wheels and I think that isnt asking much out of this setup....except maybe the turbo...
Soooo.......Forcedinductions.....modular...whoever .....help me out here. Do we think a big S4XX BorgWarner T6 deal would work okay.??....I can redo the crossover....or do I need something else?? I want to get this squared away before heading up to SpeedInc for tuning and then changing our minds or seeing the T78 just not do it.....
Ideas.............??
BTW, I know I have some odd combo/ mismatched kinda stuff.....its just an odd build.....
Here's a pic of the setup as it sits:

Wow, stepping up to what you have now will require a larger unit indeed. The S400 unit will work with an 80mm comp wheel and race cover. Also look at the GT88 from Garrett, which makes stupid power and is priced very nicely. If you have the funds to do it, then I would suggest with that size motor though a GT5018. That is the unit that fills that gap between the GT47-88 and GT55-91. With a 402 and 11.1 cr, your setup is begging for a big turbo now.
