Default What year Vette FRCs for a '00 SS?

Ive read all the results in my searches, but what year Vette FRCs will require the least amount of work/cutting? Whats the differences between the Vette and ZO6 covers? What are the differences/what changed between the years of 97-03 on the Vette covers? Ive seen several part numbers for various covers, but which ones do I need? Please specify what year and type for the part number you recommend me. Im guessing, but 12559261 and 12556455 look like the numbers that I will need, but what year covers are those and are the Vette or ZO6 covers? Wheres the cheapest place that I can get them? Thanks everyone and sorry to bring this subject up again. But from what Ive read in previous threads, its hard to determine. The questions that came about werent as specific as mine are. Just want to clarify.

I take it the top picture is what you had to start with and the bottom one is with the new slot you cut? Am I right? What did you use to do make the cut and prep the surface for painting them? Thanks

I believe you need the older ones for the LS1, they have two slots for the fuel line, the newest ones only have one.

So the only differences between the ZO6 and C5 covers are the colors and the ZO6 has 1 slot as opposed to 2 that the C5 have. So in reality, theres only 1 less cut if you go with the C5 covers? So why would anyone want to use the ZO6 covers anyway? Is there something that Im missing about them or there are more differences than I know. If I removed the A.I.R. system, (tubes, pump, etc.) will the back part of the driver side cover not have to be cut? Do any of the LS1 f-bodies have only 1 fuel line? Are there any differences between the years of 97-03 for the regular Vettes covers? For example: Is there anything different between a set of 97 FRCs and a set of 03 FRCs? Sorry for so many questions, but I do appreciate everyones help! Thanks

Not going against what youre saying, but whats your reason behind that? I hate to sound so damn repetitive/curious, but I just want to make sure I get the right ones the first time. What makes the 97s different from the 98s, 99s, etc.? Whats the part number on the black 97s? The black ones are the regular Vette ones, correct? Thanks and by the way, who has the cheapest prices on the FRCs?

Get the black 97 version.
Get the ones that you mentioned above, they have the 2 slots, less cutting required, ...

See here for my photos, ...

Works for the 00-up models, 98-99 models requires less cutting in the back.

Good Luck!

PontiacFan is right! The 97's have two slots on the driver's (LH) cover - use them if you want black ones. Also, one hole is for the fuel feed line and the other is actually part of the EVAP system (fuel vapor line). These cars use a semi-returnless system - only one line at the fuel rail.

The 1997 Corevtte FRCs (PNs: 12556455 & 12556261) have 2 slits for the fuel lines. All later FRCs (I dont know what year it started) have only one fuel slit. This includes the Z06 FRCs. A good place to get them is www.gmpartsdirect.com

NVMySS - Well looks like other fellow members answered the question behind getting the 97 version . Only reason to get the Z06 style would be if you liked the red and wanted to keep em that way.

AWESOME!!! Man I tell ya... LS1tech members, administrators, owners, etc. are the best! Gosh...if it wasnt for LS1tech, I dont know what I would do! Thanks for all your help guys! I will be ordering them tomorrow. Im ordering from GM Parts Direct...I take it they have the best prices? Will I have to make any cuts on the driver side if I remove the AIR system? I see that there is a big chunk that comes out of it and I figured it was for the pump. If all that is removed, would I still need to take out that big chunk? Thanks again!
