Question Any opinions on what stall and cam I should get for an auto 01 WS6 Trans Am?

I have an automatic 2001 WS6 Trans Am with Hooker long tubed competition headers and flowmaster exhaust on my car. My car is a daily driver unfortunantly, but I still want to do some upgrades. I prefer a car with a mid to rough idle, but like I said I have a daily driver. I have been told that I have to have a stall and have no clue what kind or type to get. Anyone with knowledge in regards to this let me know your opinion. Thanks!

you need to find out your stall size first, then that will give you an idea on what cam you can go with

www.dallasperformance.com

Taylor or Jeremy can help you out, both are very smart and down to earth.

call a shop... someone like texas speed or something...

they will steer you in a good direction...

just tell whoever you call exactly what you are looking to get out of the car..

Were you the lady that came out of No Frills and asked us about the meet?

I agree to talk to a shop like Simple Quick in Benbrook. In here you'll get more opinion than data. People tend to tell what they would like.

Honestly, it all depends on what you are looking for and the amount of lope isn't what needs to be cosidered. Many will say to go with a big cam, but it is all about preference much like choosing underware.

I was thinking of going with a TSP 231/237 cam at 112LSA and a nice 2800 stall. I have a '99 A4.

you will have that small stall...

go with AT LEAST a 3200.... 3500 would be best for that cam though..

Any one in particular you could recommend? I just want it to be more street friendly, since it IS going on my DD.

just go with a good brand.. something like Vig. or Yank.. either one of those and you will LOVE your stall..

call both of them up and tell them your looking for something around a 3400-3600... and see what all options they have and prices...

then you will be set!

Alright, thanks alot! This will still be ok to drive on the street without having to give it a crazy amount of gas to move?

yes...

for instance.. the difference between taking off from a red light with a 3400 stall and 4000 stall is only around 150 rpms... basically nothing..

this is the reason i said get a good stall...

with a shitty 3500 stall it may take a lot to get you up and moving and then end up not locking up...

with a good 3500 stall you can pick up a little higher than a stock car and then hit lock up real fast..
