Default Tuning a Supercharger with a Vinci/Crane Tuner???

Has anyone ever tuned a supercharger with the Vinci/Crane Cams Powermax Tuner? I need some input, so I would like to know from experience if it performed good or bad.

I would not want to be stuck with the limitations of a non custom tuneable handheld tuner for tuning a blower application.

In my years of building preloaded tuning device files, I would not release a preloaded tune file on a handheld tuner for a non factory blower application, and that is with releasing custom tunable handheld hardware.

We had a 04 Silverado with a Maggie come into the shop last year that had a canned ham tune on it. The performance was pretty depressing. Much happier with a 2bar MAP sensor and Custom Operating system form EFI Live.

the original supercharger tunes were based off the motors with a maggie blower on them. last i heard talking with roger vinci, they were working on preset tunes for centrifugal chargers. the vinci/crane tuner gives you a base preset tune that you can adjust. here's the webpage i made about the tuner when i had it. www.stealthram.com/vhptuner.htm

I'm getting a vortech unit (non-A&A). Will it work fine with this type of a supercharger?

I retuned a Vortech that had their crappy handheld "canned ham" tune on it and it picked up 55rwhp!! The car was stock with about 5-6psi of boost.

Seriously; skip the handheld and do it right.

there was a guy on ls2.com that went from a custom tune and used the vinci handheld and got 56 rwhp more. that was a one off gain, but who's to say what'll be right? i won't disagree with getting something like hptuners or efilive and do it.

A bad custom tune will be worse than no tune at all. A good custom tune is always going to walk all over a canned tune though. You can build 10 identical cars, and they'll all need a different tune to make maximum power, just the nature of the beast.
