SUCCESS!!! No more leaks!
Just gotta express my happiness with everybody else here that understands having a LT1 and the countless leaks we have. I just recently fixed every leak in my car and now it does not leak a single drop of anything! Now for how long we will see. LOL
When I got the car in 2005 with 80k she dripped a couple drops a week but nothing major...till I started using synthetic oil. Not slamming synthetic at all but my car found all the leaks with synthetic. Well it got progressively worse till I pulled the intake manifold for the first time. Got that taken care of but then the timing cover started dripping. I decided to do the cam swap about 2 years ago and replaced all the gaskets necessary, except the next that would give me trouble, the front of the oil pan. Well I did the intake manifold again a few months after the cam swap due to it leaking since I didn't let it set up after the cam.
Finally this is where the success comes into play! I finished up the oil pan last week which helped tremendously in the spots I was leaving! I was going through almost a quart a week there towards the end. Well while I was in there we did the valve covers again and torqued to spec which helped stopping them from seeping oil and we got the dipstick tube welded because it was spraying all over my header.
Well there it is, how to make your LT1 not leak any oil. I'm just pretty happy since my oler bro has a 1998 TA and his has right under 180k and doesn't leak a single drop of anything! Mine had 100k and was pouring everywhere! LOL Not anymore though and for the record I am going back to regular dino oil, Castrol 5w-30.

Oh yea i also did the rear main seal when i did the clutch a couple years ago. And you guys have no idea how embarassed I was with the oil leak on the dipstick tube! I mean the oil was spraying directly onto my header. I couldn't have anyone in my car for the sole fact that they couldn't stand the smell! It got to the point that my car looked like it was overheating from all the smoke coming from under the hood. The cabin would fill with smoke and looked like the car was goin up in flames!

Mine is sweating oil is a few odd places, but nothing on the ground yet. (knocks on wood)
One day if left a decent sized puddle of coolant on the ground. I checked everything really quick to make sure it was good to drive as i was super pissed off to begin with (stupid women..No offence, bad day..heh) and just beat the snot out of it all the way home. Hasn't leaked since haha...

Yea, I have been in the process of fixing mine for a couple of years along with LT's, a new timing chain, poly motor mounts, new distributor and MSD wires, E-WP, Samco hoses, new vacuum hoses, A/C delete, and AIR/EGR delete. it's been down a loooooooooong time.

[QUOTE=IronOutlaw;10756439]My firebird leaks from the rear main seal and around the timing cover, QUOTE]
where do they leak come from on the timing cover?
my first build didn't leak but my last build does leak but i'm not sure if that the 3 galley plugs were drilled out like they call for behind the timing chain gear so i'm not sure if that has something to do with it?

my leaks aren't too shabby. Very little, and I don't have to add oil. Plus my car's been using full synthetic for ages now.
OP's problem was that he switched to synthetic with 80k on the clock. The synthetic cleaned out all the sludge(for lack of a better word) that is left by dino oil that clogged and seal all the leak holes and exposed all leak areas.
Hence all the leaks.
