Hey! First Ls1(17yrs old) Need your wisdom!
Hey all, the names sobo(my nickname).
I just purchased my first Ls1. It's a 98 Pontiac Firebird Formula, m6, Hardtop.
The cars from florida, has 93k miles on it, and is in really good condition for being 10 years old.
Maintained super well, it has all new front suspension components and a fresh 10 bolt rear end(3.73's installed). Plugs and wires recently done, along with o2 sensors and what not.
It's also got some light mods. Pace setter Longtube headers, ORY pipe, and Borla mouth exhaust. 3.73's as said before, !egr, !AIR, and a free ram air mod.
Thinking about for my next mod going:
LID, Ls6 intake, and Ported TB.
Then spray.
Then upgrade the drivetrain and transmission
Then heads and cams.
BTW: Don't give me **** for having a car like this at 17, I've had plenty of fast cars before... But this is just a little step above.

Save up for an intake then go with heads/cam. If you are planning on modding it a lot you may also want to buy a 9 inch BEFORE doing the big stuff.
I got mine at 17 stock. By 18 it was making 525 to the wheels. Don't drive it like a teenage dumbass and no one will give you any crap.

nice buy i got my 02 ss when i was in 10th grade so i think i was 16 or 17 i cant remember im 20 now.
first decide what you want to do with the car-street, strip, both or what?
then decide do you plan on keeping it cause you will hardly get return on aftermarket stuff.
if you have any ?'s feel free to pm me i know i had to do alot of research before i knew what i wanted...
2 weak points you already have is a stock clutch and a stock rear end and those will need to be upgraded eventually as they both suck. if i could go back id start there but i cant lol. whats the point of having nitrous if you dont have a clutch to support it ya know? just giving you a lil heads up to what you are getting into oh yeah and its NOT cheap and i recommend dont buy cheap parts neither. also the search is helpful and so are the stickies.

X2 with car and numbers. Love TTP their new shop is beautiful. Good luck with the car, i'm only 19 and me and my friends all have fbodys. Good Luck. I would save up for a rear after the bolt ons, 6 speeds put a beating on the stock 10 bolts

My question is how you guys can get insurance to cover you being that young. My first (and still) vehicle was my 96 S10 ZR2 6 years ago. I could never imagine affording a fbody or goat in High school.
I got my TA when I was 20, and I had to fight for hagerity to accept me, and the car is under my dads name. I'm just another driver.

Sound like a nice car...im 19 and on my 3rd fbody and 2nd Ls1. As stated before I would go cam only or head/cam first before the spray. Im sure you know not to drive stupid as you said youve had fast cars before...Just dont let fools on the raod get to you haha...Had 3 teenage guys pull up beside me today and give me the finger for 2 miles for no reason..I just smiled and waved haha just let the idiots pass.
