lol at the guy above me. But anywho i do believe GM cars have to be scanned with a scan tool. That is unless you drive a c5 or c6 vette and you can read them on the dash, but guessing by your screen name you drive a camaro

ohh oky thats great
but ummm
i know a trick on mustangs
switch off, hold the mileage stitch, switch to to accessory
then a lot of things will show up on the dash ( on the mileage )
u can read a digital speed,wether degree,oil temp,water temp....etc
is there anything like that with camaro

My Dodge Caravan has that-but they are not OBDII codes but instead two digit manufacturer codes-I think that was before 1997 cause after that all cars had OBDII -you read the codes by counting the number of times theSES light flashed after pushing dash buttons in in a certain sequence.

To my knowledge, the 4th-gen f-body doesn't have any such trick. You'll either have to buy an OBD-II scanner (I have one), or get it scanned at AutoZone for free. Then you can search on here to see what the codes mean and how to fix them.

Go to Advance Auto or Pep Boys...they will scan your car for you FOR FREE. They will tell you what codes are being activated by the PCM and then you can look them up in the book. But...those cheap scanners sometimes don't pick up certain codes on certain peoples cars. The OBDII scanner that the dealerships use is the best one to use.
