((putting on giant flame suit now))
i have seen many folks on this board that have ported 241's that out flowed 243's ...not sure about if the 243's are ported or not, BUT if your on a budget,,,,,,,its food for thought
Also mentioned in the LS1/LS6 performance book by Chris Endres, a good read
it all comes down to the port work, and who's doing it.
((ducking now))

well guys i purchased the 863s. i didnt get meny responces and those heads felt like a good deal. they were the cheapest ones and i heard alot about 5.3s. these are ported 5.3 and have a 3 stage valve job on them. fully assymbled and i purchased for 350. the guy said on his ls1 he gained 25rwhp over stock 241s. so im swaping the ls6 valve springs off it them, and putting my titanium retainers, new comp springs, and new valve seals and call it a day. hope i get some power out of them!! what do you guys think??

I have heard of heat soaking issues with the BBK. With your build plans, your best bet is to just buy a LS6 intake. It's a very impressive piece and it will support a good amount of hp. I wouldn't upgrade from a LS6 intake until I was trying to make over 450 rwhp, or if I just had an extra 1k lying around to spend on a FAST 90/90.

Take a 241, 243, and 863 head and send them off to have the same valve job and stage 2 CNC work done. Then tell me which one is a better casting.
Once ported the casting doesn't matter.

I sent Carry @ ETP my stock 241 heads for a Stage 2 CNC. 316 I-241 E, @ .600". $1400.00 to the door with valves, springs, tit retainers. I had the LS-6 intake, (02 SS) and 85MM TB. Carry said 243's made a smidge more CNC to CNC. Keep 241's. Matched beautifully with Comp 595-598, 232*-234*, 112 and stock bottom end at time. Your Stage 3, 863's should flow better, I would think. I would try to find a deal on a FAST intake and 90MM TB. There was a difference. I ran 150HP of N20 and it loved it. Good Luck!

i would also say go with the LS6 with your list of mods,,the fast looks to be to much intake for the setup your currently running,,,great intake for big cubes and lots of mods,,,,not so great for those of us that are not.
